Tried to revive the cloudy head lamps today on the almera.
A combination of Sainsbury basics toothpaste and some old underpants saw the headlamps revived and I was I have to say quite dubious.
Took three applications and was very difficult to use without water but was I feel very effective. You can see the difference between the drivers (uncleaned) and passenger side (cleaned) on one of the photos here.
Went to the bank on the hairdryer just because I could and was easier than getting the car out and parked up or unlocking a big bike.d48192616e25447a06bde85516b12681.jpgfc9380cf190307280bce437144c1116a.jpg1bfd8d65b6f4e7aad9e126246f1c69e6.jpg

The planned "its going to be a borked wire I'll solder it and tape it up" failed to happen today as planned.

One FUBAR ABS sensor and one seized rear calliper. GSF didnt have the correct sensor in stock but will have it tomorrow.

Rear calliper responded well to twatting* and RRG on the sliders. Explains why the handbrake has been a bit shit of late.

Couple of days in and the C8 rear brake seems to be staying un stuck.

Handbrake after adjustment is actually working well and holds the car on a hill instead of groaning loudly and slowly slipping back.

ABS sensor was fairly straightforward once the shitty rusted up allen headed bolt had been freed off ( some swearing and much plus gas and hitting with a copper faced hammer)

Went to Manc today to collect a 1986 BMW K75... Well thats what the logbook says it is. What I came home with is:

38141007091_337c2cb9c3_z.jpg

A reg plate and a log book... All for £20.

Forced me to rearrange the shed which made me take the motobecane out for a run ( after much frantic pedaling)

Bloody brake has gone from seized off to seized on. Went out in it, did about 18 miles & OS rear wheel hotter than a shower with Kate Moss and a bottle of baby oil.

So the hairdrier clocked over to 21800 today...

26513406389_d58f5bd3d1_z.jpg

Fuel economy is a bit gash, about 50 miles to a tank - but what it lacks in MPG & oooomph, it makes up for in parking ability and nipping through town traffic ability.

Had to admit defeat with the wifes C8 and took it to the tame man in a barn - in the end it turned out to be a problem with the handbrake cable. Apparently it was "tightening" up over a few uses and binding the brake calliper on on the OS - when removed/slackened it was OK for a while the gradually started to nip up again.

Anyhow - went from the north side of Preston to the south side of Blackburn in a little over 30 mins on the ped riding like an utter twat through town rush hour traffic. Had I been in the Almera it would have taken well over an hour.

And on the plus side when I got to the garage I was able to lob the ped into the boot of the C8 and get home with the minimum of fuss.

23376134_846757248845847_567842605324951

Some utter arsing about with parking at work - Ive not been given an on site pass for work - so I have to park a couple of miles away. All well and good, but my job entails clinics off site - so a typical day is get into the lab about half seven, pack up a case with a laptop, printer, printer spares, test kit, test meter, sharps bins, sharps and sundries, medical notes and lob this into the car which I dump just outside the lab.... (where the VW is in this shot but not with my arse hanging over the yellow lines)

38288928151_a756469d92_z.jpg

Came back from clinic one day in Oct and dumped my stuff, put everything away, went for a slash, came back and lo a parking ticket issued by Indigo Park Cockwombles.

Now on my dash was a parking permit for off site and a note clearly stating where I was, what I was doing and how to get hold of me if there was a problem.

So I appealed.

Today the parking womble in charge of the hospital site parking said " yeah, your appeal was rejected". So I asked why - they couldnt tell me, so  I asked why given that I had explained this issue on more than one occasion about having to park to load/unload the car and was told " you can have half an hour on site".

Today the parking womble denied that this was a thing - a heated phone call followed where he told me that it was up to my line manager to sort out  ( balls as my line manager isnt in charge of parking and cant change the amount of equipment I have to haul about for clinics) so I asked for confirmation in writing by email that I was not permitted to load/unload with an off site pass - said parking womble wouldnt do this and referred the issue to his manager.

Meanwhile Indigo parking cockwombles have ( despite me appealing within the deadline) still show my appeal as pending but have racked up my parking fine to the next level.

Cunts? Oh yes.

Made a friend* for life today when I approached the parking manager in the canteen asking for confirmation by email regarding the issue with coming on site to load/unload.

He said "Ive passed it to Russ" - I said, so you've said, but he hasn't responded to his emails.  "Thats because he's off sick".

Oh - so who's in charge of the parking situation then if he is off? asks I

"me"

"So email me what you told me in the telephone call then yesterday regarding not being able to come on site to park I said.

"Umm, I'll look into it when I get back to the office".

Needless to say Ive heard fook all from him and he isnt replying to me.

Once I get the formal notification of refusal of my appeal I'll take it to POPLA,  Oh I should mention Im leaving this hospital in a month so Im quite happy to piss a few people off and burn some bridges with regards the parking.

Pretty much what has been in my emails to him and his boss too.

Trust policy when you wade through the 60 - odd pages states I can use the drop off point at the front of the hospital for no more than 15 minutes - fine, but these are always parked up with the out of hours service and it takes 10 minutes to walk from there to the lab.

Maybe not - but fire and gaffer tape do.

In fairness the calliper was OK - it was the bloody cable that kept nipping up and not releasing that side.

To be fair they are in it to make money - Im annoyed that the hospital wont back me up for dropping off / picking up equipment - in their T&C's on parking use they say that Im only allowed to use the drop off point at the front of the hospital for 15 mins - the fact that this is always clogged with GTD health cars and that it takes at least 10 mins to walk from there to the lab is not taken into account.

I have printed off the parking permit cancellation letter and will hand it in tomorrow with my pass as they can go f*ck themselves if they think Im coughing a tenner a month for something I dont use ( off site permit) its easier to park in a nearby side street and walk in.

Come the revolution, every organisation that employs people will have to provide parking for everyone that works there and want it, free of charge. 50% of that parking will have free to use electric charging points, but anyone who cycles, walks or comes by pubic transport will have a tax free £1 per hour added to their pension contributions by said organisation.  Organisations that have no car parking will have to pay an extra £1 an hour into every employee's pension.

Not arsed about the off site side of things - I've lived with it for 12 months.

Its the fact that the hospital are saying Im not allowed on site to drop off / pick up equipment.

The parking policy expressly forbids me to park on a patient car park - only the staff car parks. Which are full. And which by virtue of the fact I don't have an on site pass I cant access.

So if I need to collect equipment I have to remove my ID badge, park on a visitor car park and pay £3.50.
