I mentioned in an earlier post some weeks ago about this Citroen with suspension problems being driven about. Well here it is today ! the rear is rock hard

Yes Triumphs were very popular in NZ . they were built here in Nelson along with other BL products.Jag, Rover etc. They were just about totally hand built at the time I saw the plant. Bodies were built on a wooden jig, and then wheeled about the factory for fitting up.Then the Govt. discovered that importing built up from Japan was cheaper.The whole car building industry was shut down and import whatever you like from wherever you like. I don't think the Polonez importer did very well though! But Ladas sold reaonably well.Someone even got hold of a shipful of Lancia Betas which had apparently been sitting on the docks in Singapore (salt air & humidity) for about 12 months. They sold here but don't appear to have lasted well.

Spotted a mk1 Escort for sale for $20,000 and thought scene tax had arrived in NZ . Turns out it is a dealer - special, badged 1600 GT and carried a Ford Warranty. Lovely nick but expensive!!

The air cleaner is the only non-standard bit.
