The cars of Autoshite : 2015 edition

Recommended Posts

Minor will be in use again from late February, provided it isn't stolen or too badly damaged by the local junior vandals by then.

2CV will be out and about in Staffs / Shropshire from late January, provided as above.

106 is biding it's time in Brighton: I really should use it more often.

Daihatsu gets used quite a bit for commuting and general mobile shed work.

iQ spends most of it's time transporting me from West Durham / Tyneside to Staffs to Sussex and back; a very comfortable, spacious and amusing to drive car with the fab triple cylinder engine, as in the Charade, above.

One, maybe two, of the cars will have to go this year, as they spend too much time sitting around, outdoors not garaged, doing nothing, which is not good for them or me.

And thank goodness for 'classic' insurance which helps make it possible to keep the three older ones on the road.

Xantia every day car, boring until you find a corner, incredibly capable.  Quite literally the best car I've ever owned and the one I'm finding it hardest to be happy with.

Corsa was equally pretty dull as a thing to drive, but not entirely without charm which surprised me, I'm thinking more and more that I might be selling this one once I've finished tidying it up.

Princess is less rotten, woo yay!  Trying desperately to get her sorted by March.  Second-worst car I've ever owned, but the one I love the most.

6TL is being collected later this month, omg, Mike and I have even discussed possible dates to do this but nothing concrete while we do the calendar shuffle.  Doesn't really count for the driving it bit as I've not even touched this car, for all I know it could be a really well disguised sheep.  My goal is to get an MoT on this one in 2015.

these will be back into service once the weather picks up and the council stop spreading ruddy salt all over the place.

the 75 is the daily car and doing a super job at it.

it took over from a k12 micra, which was pretty horrid, that had itself taken over from the jaguar. that had been in use everyday for 18 months and the car and needed some well earned fettling, plus the £80 i was spending in petrol every week was a PITA

I'm currently hovering around 10 motors, 5 legal*.

I've taken the Delta, Boring & Merc across the country to work, just the Spyder and Daihatsu #2 of the legal ones left to make the trip. Everything else is project and not likely to take me anywhere soon.

I was supposed to be selling the Merc soon, but I'm loving the automatic for sitting in traffic jams around Manchester.

Amazon still has a broken roof and needs 63,000 other small jobs sorting.

8EZeKfj.jpg

460 has gone nowhere for 18 months and is now covered in dust.

QQEd8FC.jpg

Charade has behaved impeccably but is first on the list for fleet reduction. £600, no offers, innit.

qB06cAr.jpg

MX-3 is battered but charming, and will probably be up for sale fairly soon (for what I paid more or less).

NnlSKmo.jpg

C4 soldiers on (now past 140k) with a pair of new springs and a tyre after the NSF coil let go and went on a shred-fest a week before Christmas.

KNOB_VAN recently appeared in Retro Cars and is currently offending Junkman's sensibilities by continuing to exist.

xSIcQ2A.jpg

MGF is brilliant and will be sticking around for a while, even if it shat its battery while standing and refused to start yesterday afternoon. BLARRRRRRP.

Lobster Fleet 2015 Edition (same as 2014...)

Toledo - Just past 100k and keeps doing its job

10497466855_a62471f410_b.jpg

R4 F6 - Not getting enough use though that'll change this year. Needs four tyres.

Mazda. Useful and practical. Recent drop in fuel price eases 28mpg pain.

You all know what I've already got but for those who don't, I've still got my Civic. I'm going to be advertising it again next month after it gets moted and the exhaust fixed as I'm not really using it and i fancy something different.

The Cortina is still in winter storage, I hope to fit a Type 9 5 speed gearbox soon once I've sourced one that isn't made out of gold.

The Starlet SR is the latest addition to the group and is my wife's new daily driver.

And the Focus is the worst car I've ever owned.

The trusty 190. Coming up to a year of ownership (which isn't bad for me) and its been ace. It's needed front strut top mounts and a rear window regulator and thats it. A superb six cylinder mile muncher.

Also on the fleet is the C Max. Again, just gets on with what's asked of it without fuss. Gets serviced once a year and has had one set of discs and pads and two tyres. That's it for nearly 3 years of motoring.

Only two on the road are Meg the Visa and the Shaguar

I need to do some welding on the GT6. Not a lot but where we live welding is difficult because of the noise as someone lives above the garage so if I do any work on it, for them it would be like being upstairs in your bedroom and someone using an angle grinder in the living room downstairs. Not too pleasant.

I really need to find somewhere that I can drag it to in order to finish it off. It just needs a small amount of floor edges and a sill strenghtener and a sill for an MOT but a few other cosmetic bits round the windscreen and a couple of arches.

This past year has seen a couple of motors......

Wish I'd never sold this RRC

20131020_165328_zpsb9a97a48.jpg

The wholly unreliable but good fun when it worked Scimitar

IMAG0075_zps0af56ce2.jpg

The floppy top Swede which has proved to be one of the best (and cheapest) cars I've owned,

20150118_141534_zps7087e5eb.jpg

And the latest addition to our household, a rather tatty old disco, which could be yours for £500 if you dare.
