Saturday (and Sunday) Fun* Quiz - Anne Saws

Recommended Posts

I was away in bath-time dream land earlier and for some unknown reason the Friday Night Quiz that used to be on here not at all regularly wafted into my head. I think it's a good idea as a mildly entertaining brief diversion from the suffocating drudgery/pure joy of modern life (and I've got some crap a prize that needs a home).

So I propose a Friday Day/Night Quiz, with A REAL LIFE SORT OF PRIZE.

I've got the bones of a disappointing skeleton of a quiz in mind and a sort of prize.

Any suggestions/criticism?

I need to stage it tomorrow so I can get the prize posted out on Saturday but would it be better at a set time in the evening or, the option I'm erring towards, leave it up all day so people with different schedules can all join in and spend a quizzically painful ten minutes they're never going to get back? Or I could just return to sleepy dreamy bath-time land and we can all forget this idea ever happened. WHATEVS.

The prize would be £50 worth of rail vouchers, valid as a cash equivalent on any UK train line until June 2015, a perfect amount if you want to gambol across the beautiful countryside from county to county in the North or if you want to travel one stop down the line on a train smelling of armpit in the South East.

I received these as compensation for a delayed journey and I won't get round to using them as I am re-recommencing travels abroad on Sunday, so hopefully this way they won't be wasted.

**This prize comes with no guarantee, cash equivalent, fancy pink bow or inappropriate touching.

It's time for Henry Kelly's Fun* Friday Quiz.

Knowledge/intellect not necessary.

Once all the questions have been posted they will remain here until this evening. Answers PM'd to me by, say, 19:30 this evening to be eligible for the prize. Live glitter-packed results show a short while after that.

I'll post a copy/pasteable answers sheet at the end of the questions. Use if it's handy, don't if it's not.

Unless otherwise stated, something like half a point awarded for make of car (eg;Ford) and two points for make and model (eg:Ford Focus).

The questions are designed to be mainly ungooglable and unobscure and there are NO trick questions. Just random crap cobbled together.

Hi everyone, I'm award winning actress Sally Field, otherwise known as Sally Traffic, with some breaking travel news (and the next questions).

We have unconfirmed reports of an accident involving a miniature truck carrying what we believe is yoghurt.

Over to the scene.

Shocking scenes I think you'll agree.

Anyway, my questions are thus.

Question 10 - What brand of yoghurt has been spilled? (2)

Question 11 - What edible substance was actually used to create this tableaux/tableau/tableux scene? (1)

Back to Henry.

Yo bitches. Question 19 is the bonus round. Ahhhh yeah.

Question 19 - At precisely 11:58am today I fired a wooden toothpick from the cannon of the model military vehicle shown below next to a scale for scale. How far did it go (in inches)?

DSCN6376.jpg

To help you out, here's some more information.

This is the toothpick projectile used, next to another one for scale.

DSCN6400.jpg

These were the weather conditions at the time of the firing.

DSCN6381.jpg

This is the mighty cannon. It takes roughly 3lb's worth of force to pull the spring back using some baggage scales and it was fired at approximately at 45degree angle.

DSCN6373.jpg

The results have been videod and will be aired on the results show.

Within 1 inch gets 5 points, within 2 inches gets 4 points etc.

Stay tuned, the (hopefully) final part coming up soon.
