cros
My 2.0 petrol sherpa engine is very broken, so if you've got one or even a complete vehicle I'd be pleased to hear from you.
Cavcraft
Welcome along, Cros, fair bit of Sherpa love on here I think. Is that an 'O' Series engine in it and if so was it the same as the Ital and the Ambastardor? You may (hopefully) have more chance of finding one of those for spares. twosmoke300
Perkins prima transplant ? weren't they a development of the o series?
Bren
Rotten 2 litre SD1 as a donor? Might be worth considering if one turns up.

bub2006
I would love to get a rotten sd1 2.0 and put the engine in an immaculate v8 body. The Autoshite touch rather than the other way round! Anyway I vote perkins prima. Vince70
Guest Lord Sward
There was a bloke from MacDroitwich who installed a L-series diesel into his LDV200.

UltraWomble
T series 2.0..... Some hammering and welding it'll fit right in and Im sure there are more R17's crumbling in the scrappers than SD1's
cros
Any 2 litre O series would be fine, V8's and L series a lovely thought but its got to fit in with no messing. I think Ital and ambassador 2l engines would do, so any leads gratefully received.
Junkman
One of my long term dreams is to install a Stag V8 in one of those, to have the shitest combination of the Universe and beyond. Asimo, holbeck, Vince70 and 1 other
Split_Pin
Untaxed since Feb 99 and on Arran but E694JSF is a petrol. Might yield some bits? Oh and its sort of on an island. fotorabia
Jikovron
Bit boring really as a suggestion but a B series ? ,,iirc its only the block back plate that would need redrilled to swap over and some basic engine mount work (Sherpa sourced one excepted of course) or an mgb engine and overdrive gearbox for cruising ,,,evidently doesn't fit the no messing about critieria ,,and I guess my former suggestion also doesn't either come to think of it

oman5
you've more chance finding a B series petrol than another O I reckon, thanks to the ubiquity of the MGB. If it's just a case of getting it back on the road, the easiest thing would be to find a cheap running LDV Pilot and transfer the engine and box over. Still, it would be good if you could find an Sd1 2000 engine, those are on twin carbs and make about 100bhp.

Retro_Auto
Why not do what LDV did and use a Transit unit? Endless supply of replacement parts, forever.
oman5
It's a lot of work to fit a transit engine to a Sherpa, only the bigger 400s had them. To the OP can we see some pics of your Sherpa?
fotorabia
Bashley Road , Bashley , New Milton. Its an Esso petrolstation and the Sherpa is on the other side of the main road in a narrow path , but is owned by the petrolstation garage. That's all i can do , hope its enough cros and Cavcraft
messerschmitt owner
find an old MGB and engine-rape it! You'll get a twin carb on your Sherpa! AnthonyG
AnthonyG
On a more serious note, there's a lot more rotten MGBs about then any of the other donor vehicles we've discussed. Also more likely to find one in a scrapyard.
