pandamonium
Just thought I'd put it out there that I really want a Lada in my life again. I'm not that bothered what model, but I do quite fancy a Samara! Anyone know of any? Am I going insane? Discuss.

pandamonium
I'd love my old Riva back, but the effort and skill Dez has put into it means it is well out of my budget range.

skattrd
No help from me, but I think there may already be a queue forming for Samaratat once Will has finished the weldathon.
UmBongo
You'll be lucky. They are very thin on the ground, I think.
Alan_Green
I don't blame you. Those boxy Ladas (like your profile pic) are as big a nostalgia trip as any 2 door Escort but UK examples are rare because so many were exported. Wouldn't it be funny if people started importing them back from Jamaica etc eddyramrod
Alan_Green
Repressed memory has just surfaced. I remember driving a pristine Lada Riva taxi through the streets of Cairo a few years ago* and noticing it had only 8,000 km on the clock. The driver explained that it was less than a year old. This didn't make sense at the time but I have just done a very quick Google and it says that Rivas are still in production in Egypt and cost £5,000 new! Not sure I believe it though.*AS fans. If you ever find yourself in a 2nd or 3rd world country agree taxi fares before you get in and then offer 50% more than the agreed price if you can do the driving while he gives directions. They always say yes. I've driven some amazing tat that way. Bren, Mr_Bo11ox, eddyramrod and 1 other

Bren
I appreciated Quentin's comments about driving the thing. However, all I can say is he has never driven my vectra. I wish I could throw the bastard overboard. Steviemillar

AlabamaShrimp
Bugger me! I knew they were sending Ladas back but not in those kind of numbers. With that and the tin worm no wonder there aren't many about. Thought there is a 1992 white one round the corner from me that never moves that I've my eye on. No storage and being bad at welding is stopping me getting it
