Bmw 535 V8 for sale. £500

After an almighty cock about on ebay, where it has sold twice to mouth breathing non-collection artists, I've decided to whore it around the forums instead.

Text mostly from the ebay advert.

Due to financial circumstances , I am reluctantly selling my Bmw 535 V8. I purchased the car in February after having owned a couple of the earlier e34 models and have loved every journey.

Good bits:

Fully serviced when purchased
New rear tyres in August
New rear suspension arms and bushes in August
New M5 specification all alloy radiator
Strut brace, helps sharpen up the handling a bit.
3" Rear exhaust , sounds like a proper  muscle car! Every journey turns into Smokey and the Bandit!
Interior in good condition, some light wear and dirt on the drivers seat leather
Automatic gearbox works 100% , Tiptronic also all ok.
Mot'd until next august

Bad bits:

The standard fan exploded so I fitted an aftermarket one in a hurry (working 7 days a week, limited time) and its a messy install. A bit of a hack job to keep it going. Operated by a switch on the console.
Underside of the engine is "oily" , common on all M62 engines apparently
The crap garage who mot'd it advised that the front shocks are worn. They aren't. They are supposed to have a certain amount of free "lift". won't be going there again....
Inside the boot is really grubby, needs a good clean. In fact the car does need a good clean all over.... I do a lot of miles.
A/c has been binned
Keyed down the nsr 1/4, not too deep
A few scratches, scuffs , perished and missing external trim. Its 18 years old.

All in, its a practical, fast, cheap as chips V8 saloon. I've made it sound worse than it is but I'd rather be honest. Thats why its also not £1500, First person with £500 gets it. No swaps, no texts in the middle of night offering a stolen Xbox in part ex.

Please please please come and view if your not sure, i'm available evenings and this weekend coming.  Just give me a call or send me a message to arrange. Car is in CV10, 1 mile from the station.  David O7825235252

NO TAX DUE TO DVLA RULE CHANGES, ON SORN.

£500 is about right and you may have to go well below that to see the back of it. Whilst they're lovely cars, they're bloody thirsty. Trouble is, cheap bangers and 20 mpg are not good bedfellows and as I have recently discovered, they don't break well at all. The bits aren't worth a carrot - trying to get £25 for a fully working E39 headlight is seemingly futile.

Put it on retro rides - somebody after OMGDRIFTKAOS may want it (even though it is auto) or they may want the engine to put into something else.

Or, as seems to be the norm, lots of people with no money on there will offer you a plethora of shite swaps that will be of no use to you.

World of ceri, are you local?

Yes.

You posted a link or some pics a little while back of this car, and by chance I saw you a few days later on the A444 going over the M6 roundabout.  I was in the now-Lord-Sterling Mercedes E280.  I'd be quite keen on having it, but I've set my meagre sights elsewhere, sadly.

  • 2 weeks later...

I would have thought it would have gone by now - however, ebay is beyond a joke now - I will never punt anything on there again.

Give retro rides a go - you have nothing to lose - it just seems that nobody on there has any folding, you may get somebody offering a nissan almera etc. as a swap.

When you cannot sell a cheap old barge like this you may as well pack up - the lying bastard government keep telling us things are on the up but I beg to differ - nobody has any money.
