Well I'm now at work so I copied and pasted my list into an Excel spreadsheet, and the grand total is 289 with motorbikes or 265 without. And I'm sure I've forgotten enough for the true total to be over 300. I need to get out more...

To buy even more cars?

It`s a bit complicated for me, not sure where the line between cars bought to sell and cars bought for myself but ended up sold is. If I counted every piece of old rammle I`ve ever handed over money for the amount would be ludicrous.Talking of Esperos, however, I once bought a 2.0 Auto example that had been used as an undercover cop car, and had also had some sort of swivelling easy-access passenger seat fitted, that actually came right outside the car. I figured out that if you got the timing right on a roundabout it could be employed as a very effective passenger ejector seat, and sadly although I had a long list of candidates in mind, I never got to put this into practice.

Hey Wuvvum, what were the 'Stang and Taurus like? Always wondered.

'Stang was one fo the worst handling cars I've ever driven. Quick in a straight line though (3.8 V6), made a great noise, and wonderfully tacky '80s American interior, complete with 85mph speedo. Nice looking car & comfortable, but absolutely lethal in the wet. Taurus was surprisingly good - almost European to drive, quick (140bhp 3.0 V6) with surprisingly competent handling, which contrasted with its column shift autobox and pimptastic red velour interior. I'd have another Taurus with no hesitation; Mustang I'd hesitate about but might buy one as a posemobile if it was cheap enough.

Haven’t got time to go into a full list right now, though I did have a picture thread of the cars that saw road use earlier this year. Suppose I can add another 15-20 cars which were for spares or passed onto to others as projects, almost all the products of the same manufacturer.

This was the state of my driveway on a pleasant morning off last week after all three of my road cars got cleaned:

1983 Mitsubishi Mirage

Can I just confirm that this would have been a MkI Colt? It's confusing....in those days things were badged as Colt as if Colt was the company then later on Colt became the model & Mitsubishi the company.....have I got that right? So was Mirage the model name pre Colt as the model or was it just a special edition & Colt was still the model, but they just didn't put the company name Mitsubishi onto their cars at that time?

The Colt Car Company Limited is a privately owned business established in 1974 as part of Mitsubishi Motors' global expansion programme for the purpose of importing and distributing cars and light commercial vehicles in the United Kingdom.[2] For the first decade of its existence, British market Mitsubishis were sold under the "Colt" marque. It is a 51/49 joint venture between Colt Automotive Ltd and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation.[3][4] Three subsidiary companies exist: Spitalgate Dealer Services, which specialises in dealer wholesale stocking, Shogun Finance, the retail finance company, and Colt Cars Mid West, which owns eight Mitsubishi dealerships across the south of England.[2]From Wikipedia :)

Well the "Colt" is really what was also referred to as the Lancer or Mirage in this particular case.

My old "Mirage" was normally called a Colt over in the UK as far as I'm aware. This one here is one that I bought in Germany while in the Army:

In the US I see the 1990's "Colts" badged as "Mirage" but now even in the US they have reverted to the "Lancer" name.

So Colt was used as the name of their small car as a tribute to the Colt brand after the Colt brand name stopped being used? So the earliest MkI Colts were called Colt Mirage (Mitsubishi Mirage in other markets) until the 80s when they changed to Mitsubishi Colts? It's a good job it happened that way around else we could have ended up with Colt Colts...... :?
