Interior light is easy to fix - remove the bulb - problem solved, no more flat battery.

Or just turn the battery switch off every time you leave it.

I'm really keen to see what this is like the low prices of these is tempting. No matter how shite it is it's good to say you've owner a rolls royce.

I estimate this car needs £3000 maybe £4000 spending on it to get it rite and when this is done it will be wotrth about £1500!!

Rear spring pans are as bit of a weakness on these. Apparently the springs can just fall out due to rust! I imagine the fire out thinking about it...
LHM goodness as well. WCPGW? I drove one many years ago. It seemed to want to roll like a 2CV and this one allegedly had the handling kit fitted! I still like them though. Very special in a mildly vulgar way.

I'd love to have a Rolls-Royce. I'm jealous now! :-D

When did the start being called 'Royces', rather than a 'Rolls' or a 'Roller'? I have noticed quite a lot of people on Retro Rides seem to call them Royces, along with Mercedes-Benz which they no longer shorten to 'Mercedes', or 'Merc' like people used to - now people on line seem to refer to them as a 'Benz'. Sounds all wrong!

Royce was the engineer and apparently that's what proper enthusiasts call them. Fuck only knows what constitutes a proper enthusiast right enough.
I like the Spirit though, they remind me of 740 saloons just blown up on a photocopier. It's probably not what Crewe were aiming for right enough.

Sad anorak fact, the Leyland Royal Tiger Doyen used the same headlamp units, which is why nearly all survivors have aftermarket conversions, cos pukka units are bleedin expensive

Not fair

Mrs thestag just spied me surfing the bay for cheap rollers, didnt even ask me what i was doing just gave me that knowing glare :-(

Looking forward to the write up :-)

I've got one that does the same... :-(   We will just have to live our dreams/nightmares (*delete as applicable) through you.  Therefore we need daily photos and details.  If you're using it more than once a week that'll probably include daily pez-pump shots too!

All the old boys at Rolls Royce in Derby know the place as 'Royces' so I guess it is an authentic term. 'Roller' sounds a bit Arfur Daley to my ears

...... the real annoying one the fuel gauge reads empty all the time.

So, just like a 740 then.

I've often been tempted by a cheap Rolls Royce, just to say I've owned one, but I've always been too much of a shitebag when it comes to actually handing over the wedge and have opted for the safe, economical options like a Jag XJ40.

Looking forward to seeing more of this. :)

The problem is the ones that are used for weddings are constantly wobbed up to look pretty without dealing with the issues that Cost £££ to fix. That one on rr had expanding foam and everything in it.

Wonder if that corrugated profile is anywhere near suitable for RMX's Shifterossa pick-up bed? That would be the ultimate irony - cutting up a Rolls-Royce to provide donor panels for a Dacia! Only on AS
