Well after selling the Hotchkiss I needed something to fill the void in the garage and what better than a 1984 Rolls Royce silver spirit. A deal was done at £2350 and having arranged to deliver the Hotchkiss to Sheffield a road trip was planned. We loaded up last night.

IMG_4043.JPG

Then set off at 7 this morning. Sheffield is a bloody long way from Somerset. Nothing exciting on the roads in the way of shite worthy of any pic's Anyway arrived in Sheffield and after one last drive the Hotchkiss was dropped off to the new owner.

IMG_4044.JPG

IMG_4048.JPG

Then it was off to the main reason for the mission collecting the Rolls. The M1 is a bloody nightmare with mile after mile of roadworks. We eventually arrived in Ferryhill and loaded up the Rolls after a quick spin round the block. No photo's from there as it wasn't the nicest area and you wouldn't of expected to find a roller there. Anyway we are now settled in a hotel for the night ready to drive down to Nottingham in the morning as I have sold the trailer to a guy down there and said I would deliver. At least it will save a few quid in petrol trailering it half way home. So fingers crossed it makes it.

So once you've sold the trailer, you're A-framing the Rolls back to Somerset, right?

Yeah that is what happens when you try and squeeze the last 50p in to round it up to £90 in diesel so far. Poor old Izusu I have sold it as well as soon as I get back. The rolls will hopefully drive home I just have to try and get the keys off my other half I think she thinks she is driving it tomorrow/

Shame the lovely Hotchkiss is leaving the AS family, but the Roller (sorry, 'Royce') looks peachy.  If you ever fancy swapping it for an SD1 for a weekend or so, I'm game.

Do not be surprised if RR's legal department come after you.

They will be over the moon to see one of Crewe's finest in the hands of somebody affiliated to this site.

Remember RR's never break down - they simply "fail to proceed."

Seriously, good luck - I hope it does'nt bankrupt you.

You lucky bastard with that Roller! You are indeed living the dream.

Ferryhill is just down the road from me and yes, its a rough as a badger's arse there.  Its debatable that they even know the Miner's Strike is over let alone with second World War.

Ferryhill Phact;  Its the home of Devon Motorhome conversions.  And is therefore still a good little village.

He'll probably work that out for himself when it transpires it's not packets of industrial strength Shake N Vac in the boot, but a few kilos of Columbian Disco Powder.

Should do 20mpg on a run, my old Turbot Arse was about the same as Mrs N's 3.5 Disco if I was super careful, easily into single figures when I wasn't !

I have been reading the handbooks and it says 12mpg for urban getting up to the dizzy heights of 18mpg at a constant 56. We will find out tomorrow when I fill it up and take it off the trailer It has a 106 litre tank so that won't be a nice experience. I am hoping to get home on one tankful but might have to let SWMBO drive it as she doesn't have the same lead insoles that I have. Fingers crossed it is ok it looks really good even the interior is better than I expected with the proper lambs wool over mats. I just had to go out to the car park for a quick sit in it after dinner.

I may find out tomorrow whilst waiting for the breakdown wagon. At the moment it looks like a couple of little electrical faults. The interior light sticks on and flattens the battery and the real annoying one the fuel gauge reads empty all the time. It looks really nice a couple of bubbles on one rear arch but it had a load of bodywork and a respray last year that looks a half decent job.
