blimp
Did anyone see Charlie Brookers Screenwipe on BBC4 on Tuesday night? He was having a pop at TV adverts, but it included the rather fantastically shitey advert for the 305. And someone has kindly nabbed it off of the tele/iplayer and bunged it on Yootoob: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=sOXnDB3sjig
Mr_Bo11ox
How can you call that shitey? its class in a glass man.
pogweasel
QUALITY. I watched that on telly (twice). A great piece of nostalgic grot "Three - oh - five!!!!"Plus I got to watch Brooker ranting, which is always thoroughly enjoyable, being as I too am a grumpy misanthrope. Guest
Must admit it was a pleasant surprise to see it on the big screen, about the only thing I watch on TV nowadays to be honest. As a side note, I go past a late Peugeot 305 on the way to work every day, it isn't driven by some tasty young lady, though. Much the opposite in fact, it is driven by a fat bald man who only ever seems to wear a string vest, Rab C Nesbitt style. I'd get some pics (of the car, not the man) but I'm frightened he might run out of his house and beat me to death, then have a fry up with my remains. Guest
Don't worry Hirst we will come to funeral, then rummage through your garage during the wake. Its what you would have wanted Amongst the fantastic things you will have to choose from are various nearly empty bottles of Castrol GTX, assorted wheels, a load of 1980s-era car radios, parcel shelf speakers and old oily spark plugs and air filters (just in case). In addition you get the full run of my tool kit, which consists of various bent screwdrivers, an £8 socket set and a bulk-buy pack of yellow cable ties. Parky
THat 305 advert was class. As my Dad always says, they dont make 'em like they used too. Although I am expecting some ad exec, short of ideas, to remake this ad on the basis of being "ironically retro" or whatever tosh he or is she spouting this week. reallyloud
Brooker is a bit of legend in my old hood - i.e. where I went to school. He was infamous for his comic sketchwork at school - he eventually got his stuff published in Oink magazine (a VIZ rip-off) and eventually conned his way on to TV. I agree, other than that other legendary TV critic Harry Hill, there ain't much else watching.
r.welfare
Great advert. I like Brooker, but lament the lack of Victor Lewis-Smith on our screens these days.
