Was looking forward to seeing that one again, BSG!! Ace motor.

With apologies to Pogweasel, 1998 Daihatsu Mira Classic Turbo 4WD, bought in summer 2005:

I know it looks daft, but that's why I like it, it's just utterly ludicrous. It easily remains the most baffling car Daihatsu ever imported here, especially since they only did them in the absolute top spec with turbo and fulltime 4WD - why? God knows. Despite this, I managed not to launch it into a ditch and I've still got it, though I've not used it on the road for about a year now. Soon it'll get some attention, I'm probably going to order in a stainless exhaust for it or something to make up for the neglect and hopefully it will continue to be impeccably reliable.

Did they sell those officially in the UK Hirst? Didn't realise that!Must have only sold a handful

50 of them I'm led to believe, they came through as a limited numbers import and were converted to "UK-spec", by that meaning they put a converter and an mph sticker on the speedo and lashed a foglight on the back. As they are first registered under Daihatsu UK, they are effectively UK cars so they're not flagged up as imports. I suspect dealers had them sat around for a bit as they were priced up at £8995 back in 1998!

First car I sort of owned.... yellow 1200 beetle, GNM***N which was given to me by a guy who had gone travelling and decided not to come back. He described it as 'lovely condition', I saw it more as 'a bloody deathtrap'. Got it shipped to a garage for a quote, they kept the nice steering wheel and scrapped the rest as it was rotten as anything.First car I legally owned, a Kasan Red 1303S, PPC434L. Sourced by the garage who inspected the above car, did 18k in one year and never really missed a beat. Fantastic introduction to motoring.

First bike: MBK 51 Swing (an updated Mobylette), bought new in 1993.First car (as opposed to van): 1985 Mini Mayfair in silver with a leaky rad and knackered head gasket, and wipers that wouldn't switch off, and a leaky sunroof, and crap brakes, and generally a complete heap of shit, but still amusing to drive, and managed four months of motoring with the temp gauge bouncing off the red zone before being sold for £30 more than I paid for it.
