Well i have messaged him a couple of times through facebook which achieved piss all. Haven't tried that email address but I shan't bother, I'm gonna cancel the transaction with the credit card lot and just get the stuff elsewhere. I'm hopping mad, what a flipping waste of everybody's time.

Hey Roverageous, if you see any other unlucky saps struggling with this DMGRS bell end, tell them to ring him up – his number is 07463 740777. He doesn’t like answering but if you are persistent he will give up and answer eventually. Failing that they can put his details in a few PPI reclaim websites if nowt else.

Rob, that's a handsome car you've got there. Is that the multi storey in Beckenham by any chance?

Yes it is, I take it you are local then? I find it's a fairly decent spot to take chod shots as the top deck is often empty, and the light is better than out back by my garage.

I've been using the 75 for local trips recently, just wafting about in calm serenity whilst everyone else is driving like tossers. The brake warning light came on yesterday so new pads on the front must be needed, as thin pads were an advisory on the last MoT. Apart from that, all it requires is regular trips to the pez station...

Boring update time.  Since my last post I’ve had the front brake pads replaced as they were indeed wafer thin, and the ABS warning light remains on so I should probably get that seen to next.  It’s as if the car is telling me I’ve ignored it for too long as the red brake warning light also illuminates intermittently.  Hopefully it’s just a sensor and not a wheel bearing related issue like they can be sometimes, but there’s no rumblings from the rear.

The inspection computer wotsit tells me I have 2,500 miles left until the next service so I’ll lump all the jobs together.  There’s a Rover specialist near work that I might give a go, but a tried and tested option is Russell Walsh at MG Rover Solutions who is top notch.  He travels the country remedying HGF on knackered Rovers, so he’s not short of work…

I’m often overly critical of cars first off, but this big old barge has finally proved its worth to the point where I’m becoming precious about where I park it, which isn’t really a good thing.  Cars pick up parking dents, DEAL WITH IT.  If I clear all the crap out of my garage it’ll fit, but where do I then put all the crap?  Plus it’s full of R8 at the moment.

I was critical initially of the limited rear visibility (to the point where I removed the middle headrest on the back seat) and the low driving position, but I see them as a bonus now as it removes you a bit from all the other wangers on the road.  Turning circle is tight so parking is easy for a biggish motor.  Driving old chod is great obviously, but I’m starting to see the benefit of having something newer and lazier to drive now I’m approaching 40….and the missus loves it so that’s always good currency for justifying additional tat purchases.

I’ll get some pics up soon after a god cleaning session at the weekend, assuming the weather won’t be too shite.

Having a very brief ride in this very car certainly didn't help my want for one.  It's probably the only car I wanted when they were released and still want now and this one is pretty close to my ideal spec, I'd just want it to be that pale metallic green or that lovely metallic black they came in rather than the dark blue.  Incidentally, the dark blue is a beautiful colour on the 75, it's just not very me.

Couldn't help noticing that RobT's doesn't have this option box ticked.  I wonder if that's only available on the MG versions?

There's some debate over the quality, some people reckon that the Cowley ones are the best others say early Longbridge cars. The big difference was really with the later Longbridge cars after all the gradual cheapening and decontenting there was over the years.

I would go with the Cowley cars as being better quality - mainly due to the better equipment levels

I've got to say I do like them. A company I used to work for had them - unusually - as fleet cars so I used to get to drive it every now and again. It was the BMW diesel one, my abiding memory of it was the 1st gear was really low, no sooner had you set off but you were in second. Nice car though. What's it like on the juice knocking about round the houses?

depends how you drive it. i get 42-44mpg overall on a run, while SWMBO can get just shy of 50mpg overall.

about town i'm guessing high 30's?

the one i'm smokin about in is a 51 CDT, its a 116bhp model (with real wood and a full complement of cup holders) so it's no road rocket, but it does cruise nice, and i find it a very comfortable and civilised place to sit. not as comfortable as the xjr-6 or the 820 coupe, but its much nicer than anything else of that age that i've sat in, but that doesn't include a proper big Citroen.

My 2.5 V6 returns about 24MPG around town, which I think is quite good, plus given the 'cheap' fuel at the moment.

The Longbridge cars are generally viewed as being the better built over the Cowley cars.  The Longbridge cars had better rust proofing especially on the sills and the brake pipes were coated on Longbridge cars whilst they were not on Cowley ones.

If you ask 100 people 50 will say buy Longbridge cars and the other 50 will say Cowley. I am not sure which is better but I am led to believe the later models were subject to some harsh cost cutting. I much prefer the early cars in connie trim, I think they already have a classic look while the later facelifts still have a modern look about them.

Would anyone fancy this for £300? It has the desirable* 2.5 KV6 in auto flavour. MoT is until 16th September and it had a full service back in January plus a new thermostat housing. No overheating issues and belts were last done at 74,000, it's now at 117,000ish so should be ok for a while yet. But at this price just spin the wheel and play cambelt roulette, i did and it's been fine.

Only current issues are slight blow from the exhaust mid section, a possible binding brake caliper on the NS, and ABS light is on. The first two issues started after Shitefest but the ABS has been like that for ages. I've been told by the garage it's the rear OS speed sensor, why i didn't get it fixed at the time I dunno but there you go. Will need to be fixed for the MoT obviously. Oh, and the numerous giffer dings on the bodywork, worst of which is a huge gouge on the rear passenger door. Again, I've lived with it but could probably do with being sorted just to smarten the old thing up a bit.

Also had two new front tyres and front brake discs a few months back.

Pics are from last year October but nowt has changed, apart from i need to clean it.

I've had two of these.

Well, strictly, I've owned one.  The first overheated on the forecourt whilst I was signing the V5.  The guy awkwardly gave me back my cash and gave his wife that knowing glance as I drove off to buy another one.

2.5 Auto is the one to have IMHO.  The car is so cheap you can put the saving towards your preferred 95 RON.  Autobox negates the expensive clutch that ever banganomic owner is avoiding.

I had a 1.8 Turbo and, despite what y'all think, it was fantastic.  The best compromise of POWWWAAR and frugality.  I ran it for 20k with a weepy HG by using some snake oil before moving it on. It's still around today.

GLWS.

That sounds quite a funny story, I bet the owner was sweating whilst the engine was running on the driveway.....then it overheated? LOLZ

2.5 V6 Auto, Yes defo the one to have unless you do loads of miles then im sure the Diesel comes into its own. But for smoothness and that lovely V6 tone THIS is the one to have.

RobT - You forgot to mention that although the MOT expires in September there is no reason why it wont pass first time. Car will only appreciate in value. Mint except for scrape in rear door, in the best colour. Wud consider swap for Saxo VTR/Corsa SRi/Xboxes/Ice cream freezers.

It was quite funny - but also quite awkward too and not without difficulties.

We'd done the paperwork, I'd bunged him the £700 via chip and pin, and I went out to the car with him which had been running for about 10 minutes by now.  I'd left it running deliberately to see if it'd get a bit hot.  By now the temp guage was at MAXIMUS and the red light illuminated.  "Ah - it'll just be needing a bit of coolant" the dealer says.  So I pop the bonnet to be greeted with a scene similar to that bit on the OBLIVION ride at Alton Towers when the mist and dry ice pisses in your face.

Turns out he was right.  It needed coolant.  Plenty.  In the right places ideally.

However, as I'd paid card he had to refund me via card.  So that was going to take 72 hours.  I wanted to keep the car in that time, he wasn't keen.  Fortunately the wife works for our bank, so she could call up and stop the transaction before it was properly effected.

Nightmare.  But, a true shiter never surrenders, and I bought another 8 hours later from an asian gentleman in peterborough.  #Brave.

FIND ANOTHER, numberplate worth £££, starts on the button, and so on....

Price is negotiable for a regular shiter seeing how these pez eaters are worth F all at the moment!
