I think you are Barrett ;)

Moog,   The insurance might want to see photos of your 'camper convertion',  I was nowhere near finished when I sent them photos of mine but needed it on the road for not getting a bollocking from the landlord purposes so I just placed bits of wood in roughly the right formation and shoved loads of blankets over the seats and cushions everywhere before taking the pics and they were perfectly happy.

I very much doubt that the DVLA will check anything and you can always make the excuse that it's removable and currently out if you get pulled over.

Will try and take photos all the way through.

Some minor successes this morning as I managed to remove 4 of the seat legs.

It took some working out but by lying under van with Missus Moog holding a ratchet, I could free the bolts off with a break bar.

Its slow and dirty but works. Only did 4 as the workforce started complaining.

With ours, the DVLA did want to see photos, although I've heard of others who have had the class changed who didn't need them. And others who required an inspection at the DVLA local office, although I doubt that will be required any more...

So it seems as though there is no official guideline on evidence required, or at least not at the time but I vaguely remember something about it must be not readily convertible back to the original vehicle type.

Spent 30 mins today with a hairdryer starting to take the graphics off. Pretty straightforward really.

Still got the high up ones and interior signs to come off.

Next job after that is to price up window film and get it tinted. Cant quite decide on mirrored or just gangsta black out

Starting to make progress today. Overall plan is to get the minimum done to change it into a camper on v5.

That means it needs bed, storage, sink/water and cooking.

Scored a sink, tap and draining board from ebay for £14 delivered. Won this gas cooker for £20.

Going to create a modular cooker/sink in short term.

Then started building the bench/bed. Going to have two benches with the table being the middle of the bed. Width wise it is around 170cm so just making the benches 130cm long.

Only had a rusty saw and manual screwdriver, so took me around 2 hours to get this far.

Costs so far

Van £500

Cooker £20

Sink £14

Wood, screws brackets £38

Sold seats for £1 :)

Next steps

Build other bench

Fit hinged lids to boxes

fit box facings

Build table

Build sink and cooker unit

Build gas box

Fit gas drop out

Source water storage options

Buy cushions for the bed/seating area

Bolt all in

Send off v5

After that is all done;

Insurance

Insulation

Remove carpet from walls

Fit 5 speed gearbox

Paint van

Sort brakes out

Fit leisure battery

Fit wiring

Fit better water storage
