M'coli
At this age, it should have the single-point 95bhp 16v engine. I wish I had the space and time...

vulgalour
I'm not surprised. It doesn't look too shabby in the pictures compared to some you see, particularly with white being so bloody unforgiving. Hope gets to Metro another day. brickwall
Lord Sterling
Was it sold to a bloke called Steve from the Midlands?
bub2006
95 brake isn't to be sniffed at from a 1.4. The 1.6 escort was only about 89 brake and the sierra 1.8 had about the same as the metro. Always wanted to drive one as i imagine they could show newer cars a clean pair of heels.
Bren
My mate had one - it could'nt out drag a B reg cavalier SRi. My mate was adamant that it would be quicker than my brothers cav - he was wrong and got his arse handed to him. I thought it would have been quick but it was a bit of a disappointment. bub2006
Cav would gave had more low end grunt i would have thought tbh
M'coli
The Cav might have a bit more low-down torque, but a B-reg will have the 18E engine which really came alive above 4k.A bit of digging power-to-weight ratios shows them to be fairly well matched - Metro GTi, 95bhp/885kg, and the Cav at 115bhp/1071kg. brickwall
I had the GTA and is absolutely wizzed along and was such a great driver compared to the 1.1 I had. Build quality was way better too and It had better rust proofing and, well, just everything. I'm sure the gears were way different than the GTi and mine only had 8 valvatrons blakey79

New POD
My mate had one - it could'nt out drag a B reg cavalier SRi. My mate was adamant that it would be quicker than my brothers cav - he was wrong and got his arse handed to him. I thought it would have been quick but it was a bit of a disappointment. My old C reg 1.8 Sri produced 119 bhp at a club rolling road, and probably didn't weigh that much more than a metro. They had the 1.8e astra gte 8 V engine, and a close ratio gearbox, so no holes in acceleration to 110, when you were wanting another 2 gears. (Oh why did I sell it?) Station
I had a standard 1.4 16v GTi and it was fantastic. I bought it for £100 in 2011. Really good cars that are well built and really well sorted with ARBs and a superb engine.
