wuvvum
Yep, regretfully the Citroën is up for sale as well. It's an LNA 11E, which means it's pretty basic - it does have a rear wiper, but that's about it. Like the Talbot, it's also very solid for one of these. Underside is very good indeed. It did need a patch welding on the nearside rear inner arch for its last MoT, but that was it (apart from CV and steering rack boots). The current MoT runs out in October, and it's taxed until the end of July. It's done about 55K miles - again, believed to be genuine but no proof. It runs and drives fine - the gear linkage could do with adjusting as I pulled it out of alignment through being a clumsy twat, but all the gears still select OK, it's just the gear lever is a bit further forward than it would normally be. There's a slight whirring noise from somewhere in the gearbox - not loud enough to be really noticeable when on the move, and it's not got any worse so I've not worried about it. There's also sometimes a slight vibration when accelerating flat out, especially in the higher gears - no idea what's causing this, I checked for play in the driveshafts etc. when the car was up on ramps getting the rear exhaust replaced last year and there wasn't any. There's also a bit of a flat spot on acceleration, which is alleviated by leaving the choke out slightly - seems to be a common thing with these engines. These issues have been there as long as I've owned the car (apart from the gear linkage misalignment), and have never bothered me enough to start taking things to bits to investigate. I went to Kings Lynn and back in the car just a couple of weeks ago (120 mile round trip), and it was fine. Bodywork is generally good, although there are a few minor dings and stone chips etc. Also one of the rear bumper end caps is a bit broken. Interior is mostly good, although as usual with these the tops of the seat backs have suffered in the sun - the front seats come with stylish fake sheepskin seat covers at no extra charge. The boot struts don't hold the hatch up, so needs propping up with a bit of wood. It does have split fold rear seats, which is unusual for a basic early '80s small car, and helps to improve the rather restricted luggage space. That's about it I reckon. I know the list of defects looks quite long, but none of them stops the car from being useable, and I'm confident it would drive to wherever. Although it's only a 4-speed, it's quite high geared (around 3,000 revs at 70), so it sits happily on the motorway without sounding like it's going to put a con-rod through the block. It's also good on fuel (I reckon 50mpg plus on a run). I'm in NE Norfolk for those that don't know. Here's some more pics. How does £450 sound? HillmanImp
Thats a bargain too. My Visa has that flatspot too if i am accelerating after turning left for some reason. The gearboxes always whine too apparently due to the gearbox being in the sump.
HMC
Lovely! Cant think when I last saw one. Oddly my 'suitcase' equipped 205 does the same left turn flat spot thing.
chaseracer
2CVGB Registers Day is on tomorrow, near St Ives. Not so far from you, so may be worth a day trip for a captive market...
richardmorris
As the Citroen Car Club 2cv person, can I point you towards Mike the Visa person? visa@citroencarclub.org.uk A girl friend (well a girl who was a friend anyway) in sixth form had one as her first car - we had our driving tests on the same day (both failed first time but blame the same examiner who was a miserable old sod and took an instant dislike to Leon my laid back Caribbean instructor). Cavcraft
How cool is that steering wheel? This was the golden era for French cars imho, they made so many funky motors around that time.

Thanks for the offer. £450 does include a small shiters' discount - I've now got it advertised elsewhere at £500 - but if it's going to someone who's going to look after it properly I'd be happy with £450 so you can paste the link if you want.
