Petrolize
I realise its rather cheeky of me to have my first post on here as a for sale thread, but feel it might be of interest to a fellow member on the forum. Apparently rocking up in a 90s Renault isn't cool but the views might be slightly different on here. Anyway, its a 1994 'L' Renault Safrane 2.2 VI in Persian red and has covered a genuine 29k. The car comes taxed and tested until November 2014. The V5 logbook is present and in my name. All previous service paperwork and every MOT certificate is present to substantiate the mileage of 29k. It was previously owned by a fat old man living in Southwest London. He doted on the Safrane and only sold it on after 19 years having given up driving. Before that it had been owned by Renault UK and was TV featured during that time. Inside its almost perfect right down to the period head unit. The interior has acres of soft leather and deep pile carpets. The rear seats have rarely, if ever, been sat in. The tyres front and rear are matching and all look to have been replaced fairly recently. The car does have a service history, with the last service stamp at 24k, however it has been serviced since then, with the last service carried out earlier in the year. The oil remains fresh and all fluids are clean/topped up. There is no rust that I can see, it has obviously been well cared for during its 20 years. There is also a collection of previous MOT certificates dating right back to when the car was presented for its first test.01.11.1996 @ 12,871 - 31.10.1997 @ 15,651 - 06.11.1998 @ 16,303 - 04.11.1999 @ 16,867 - 07.11.2000 @ 17,374 - 07.11.2001 @ 19,597 - 06.11.2002 @ 20,519 - 08.11.2003 @ 21,350 - 04.11.2004 @ 22,095 - 07.11.2005 @ 23,184 - 06.11.2006 @ 23,996 - 06.11.2007 @ 24,579 - 05.11.2008 @ 25,414 - 06.11.2009 @ 26,389 -05.11.2010 @ 26,851 - 04.11.2011 @ 27,251 - 05.11.2012 @ 27,527 - 04.11.2013 @ 27,960 Its arguably something of a future classic in this condition, and no doubt one of the best examples left. I wish I could keep the car until its actually worth something, however this may take quite some time. Who knows, I might even be retired by then, and won't have much time for the Safrane since I will be looking forward to the SAGA holidays on offer and already planning a tour of Britain using an OAP buspass. I have covered between 2-3,000 hassle free miles in the Safrane. Its a lovely car to drive and returns around 38 MPG which surprised me as its quite a large car. It would suit a fellow enthusiast or just someone looking for something comfortable, rare, retro and interesting. The asking price for all this exclusivity, luxury and leather? £995 or nearest offer. Car is located where I live in the Scottish Highlands - near Inverness - the bit that may stop anyone buying it because its a 'just too far away for me'. To combat this I may, under agreement, deliver the car for the cost of fuel and transport back home. Can't say fairer than that! Furthermore, I would also be open to p/x or swap depending on what you have got. Since I will be replacing the Safrane with a more sensible Honda, I would not be averse to something a little different as a second car to run alongside. At the end of the day however, my preference however is for someone to come over, kick the tyres, moan, haggle but generally have a good look around and satisfy themselves before purchase. I have a pair of ramps if anyone wishes to crawl underneath or knock themselves out. Meanwhile, I can supply an unlimited amount of tea, coffee and digestives biscuits. Depending on the offer I might even fill the tank to get you home. ProgRocker, KruJoe, Junkman and 6 others

Luckythirteen
No, that's definitely cool. I'm surprised it would do 38mpg too, so practical as well. But since when does that matter, in here? Good luck and welcome.

Lord Sterling
Yikes. That would be a lovely thing to own and I don't often say this but I actually can afford it. However my money has other places to go unfortunately. Brilliant car, and to top that, used in one of my favourite shows. Good luck with sale. Petrolize
Thank you for the comments throughout the day. I never heard from the winning bidder so sadly have no idea what the excuse would be... Good work in finding the Safrane being featured on LoveJoy, I actually watched the episode it was featured in but cannot find the link now. I have to agree with the comments on it being well priced for the best one left and is indeed prime Autoshite gold – lets hope it finds a buyer on here soon It really is a much loved car and totally unique Here is a full set of photographs: http://s945.photobucket.com/user/h195/library/Safrane Hope the link works Anything else please let me know

dollywobbler
Corking. MPG seems feasible. My 21 Monaco would easily get 35mpg even with me driving it.

Petrolize
To be fair 38-39mpg is the lower expectation, it is actually quite difficult to get under 40mpg. Today I went on an 80 mile round trip in the car, and it cost just £10 in fuel - it had 150 miles of range showing, put in a tenner, and as we speak has 150 miles of range remaining. When you consider the fuel cost was £1.34, thats 48mpg. The trip computer is a little pessimistic however as the reading is lower than this figure. Annoyingly I accidentally re-set the trip computer before setting off (the previous readout had been around 42-43mpg), but here is a photo showing 41.5mpg over 40 miles or so travelling back. This was over a mix of A-roads, the country lanes around the house, and city driving. This was without driving particularly economically (kept up with some of the faster traffic, a couple of overtakes etc) and, had there not been so many roadworks, or had I not chosen to take the long way home, then I would imagine this figure would be a lot higher. Renault put a lot of development into the Safrane in terms of aerodynamics and fitting modern engines, but even so I am still impressed with the cars fuel economy. If you are a geek of that standard I praise you oh lord. Sad enough to vaguely remember a red Safrane appearing in an episode of Lovejoy. Not quite enough of a geek to know without double checking the reg on IMCDB. The line 'tv featured' in the original post tipped me off.

Guest Breadvan72
The words "It was previously owned by a fat old man living in Southwest London. " make this a car of WINNAR. Every car advert in EVAH should contain those words. I love the fact that despite its pristine luxo-ness and no doubt capable competence N shiz this is a car of stupendous dullness. It truly is Autoshite Gold. Welcome and GLWTS. Offer it also to PH for shed of the week? dugong
Petrolize
Yes, the all important giffer-ownership can be verified by the fact the last owner was spotted on Streetview cleaning the Safrane outside his house in London!

Volksy
Thats really nice, the only one i've seen recently is a metallic blue one that Tatton Park use as a site hack around the park.
