wuvvum
I've got a Rover 75 for sale. I took it in p/x off a mate against my Scénic, but to be honest now the Rover of Doom is back on the road I don't really have any use for it. Good points: -It's a diesel Tourer, so one of the more desirable 75 models. It's actually a Classic SE, but it's had some Connoisseur bits fitted (chrome mirrors etc.) to bling it up a bit.-It's in BRG, which I think is one of the best colours for these.-It runs, drives, stops, steers etc. Starts first flick every time and doesn't overheat or owt. Nice old thing to drive too, as 75s tend to be, although it's quite different from the V6s I've owned before.-It has a sparkly fresh MOT as of this morning. Just needed front ARB drop links.-It's in quite presentable nick for its age. Bad points: -Mileage is astronomical - 230K. If it were a pez-engined 75 it'd probably be fucked by now. The diesels seem to be rather longer lived though. The MOT bloke did remark on how well it was doing for its mileage, and it certainly doesn't feel knackered to drive.-The chrome trim on the nearside corner of the rear bumper is partly missing, and the bit that is there is held on with screws - probably ideally needs a replacement bit purchasing. It also has a chrome Rover badge on the bumper (covering up a crack), and a chrome strip down the centre of the bonnet which I actually think looks quite good but which might be a matter of taste.-The exhaust is blowing slightly from the flexi pipe. It's currently minor enough that it was just an advisory on the MOT, but it's not the kind of thing that tends to get better with time. Realistically it's going to need a replacement flexi section fitting at some point.-There's a noisy pulley somewhere under the bonnet - sounds like a dry bearing. Probably a result of being stood around for a while before I bought it. I think it may be the aircon compressor, but there's a lot of pulleys close together and with the noise of the engine right next to it it's hard to pinpoint exactly where it's coming from.-The aircon doesn't blow cold, although the compressor seems to kick in, so might just need gas.-It has a slight oil leak from somewhere under the bonnet - not bad enough to be a worry, but it's there.-The remote locking is temperamental on the driver's door, and occasionally on the front passenger's too - it sometimes needs helping with the key. The rest of it works OK though. I don't have much in the way of history with it, but it does have its handbook and Rover Assistance cards with useful info like the radio code. It also comes with two keys. It ain't taxed, but I can tax it at cost if need be. Here's some pitchers: It's in NE Norfolk and I want £500 for it. loserone, anonymous user and brickwall
Cavcraft
Fine looking car and surely a massive bargain for a diesel estate with a full MOT. Partridge
beko1987
Swap for an XM when I put a fresh ticket on it at the end of the month?...
eddyramrod
I've been rather fancying one of these for next winter, and BRG would be one of the Colours Of Choice. Sadly this one is too soon, and fails on engine/gearbox combo, so I'll endure* the shineless MR2 for a bit longer. GLWTS and all that.

wuvvum
Swap for an XM when I put a fresh ticket on it at the end of the month?... Agg! Stop it!!! I'd love another XM. Can't though. I need to raise some cash moneys to put the Solara and the 164 and the Renault 6 and the Innocenti and the Corsair and the van back on the road. wuvvum
Doesn't that interior look lovely. Is it wearing its 230k as well as it appears to be in the photo? It ain't bad. It's had the steering wheel off the (lower mileage) Connoisseur fitted, which helps, but it's held together pretty well. Could do with a hoover at the moment mind. wuvvum
So yeah, this is still for sale, and I'm getting increasingly bored of looking at it. It really isn't that bad - I've even fixed the exhaust blow (as far as it's possible to fix a flexi). Still starts every time with no preheat even when left standing for a couple of weeks, puts out a bit of smoke if you cane it from cold (but then you shouldn't really do that anyway) but fine the rest of the time, passed the MOT smoke test with flying colours (reading was 0.19, limit is 1.50 - not bad for the mileage). One more negative point I've found: in very heavy rain (like the kind we had last weekend), the offside rear door seals leak a bit somewhere, so the footwell carpet gets damp. Not the end of the world, and at least it's not coolant like it would be in a Passat. It has two boxes of spare trim bits, clocks, steering wheel etc. in the boot. I'll even wash it and hoover it. If anyone wants it for 400 quid they can take it away. eddyramrod

The Moog
What's your nearest station?
wuvvum
Nearest station to here is Hoveton & Wroxham. I took this through a car wash today, as it was filthy. Turns out the water wasn't getting in through the rear door seals at all, the car was suffering from the common Rover 75 complaint of blocked bulkhead drains, and the water was pouring in through the heater vents - it was then pooling in the rear footwell as it's lower than the front. So I pulled all the plastic cover bits off, lifted out the ECU box and stabbed through the stupid rubber bung thing in the drain hole with a BFO screwdriver, which got rid of the water straight away. Been riding around in it the rest of the day and it's been fine. Still in dire need of a hoover though, but I can't really do that until the carpets are fully dried out. dugong
This is a great old tool. I really hope you don't have to put up with any 75 spotters who'll want hundreds knocked off for a microscopic fault. GLWTS. CortinaDave
