dome
Well that's the Jags first couple of weeks under its belt and it's going well. Lovely to waft around in and no major issues. There's a slight hesitation occasionally but I'll have a go at cleaning out throttle body and other gubbins before I worry too much about it. It's averaging, err, 17 on my 4 mile round trip to work. On a run it's bearable at mid to high 20s-I saw nearly 30mpg on the M8 the other week but do you know what? The car was so cheap I don't care. I'll spend the money I saved over buying something boring on keeping this in fuel for a while. Today was a good day-the reason the Jag was so cheap was because of the damage to the front. The bumper was fucked and missing the left hand side section and the bonnet has a dent in it and had been pushed back. A chap on Gumtree was breaking a car in Glasgow-turned out the car was stored round the back of my mates flat in Giffnock so off I wafted to meet a nice bloke called Steven who has several XJ40s as well as a Range Rover Classic. Don't worry, I've pointed him to this site, he'll fit right in... So this was the s(h)ite to be seen in the south side of Glasgow this afternoon The blue car gave up it's front bumper for mine. Sadly it had had a hit on the same side as I was missing so the corner bumper needed some work. Up to my mates folks house and tea and zip ties ensued Browns Lane would be proud. With a bit of swearing(and mostly thanks to my mate Fraser as my collarbone limits what I can do just now) the bumper was on, the headlight surrounds were straightened and the bumper tenderly massaged(with a hammer and some mole grips) The bumper needs a good clean as does the rest of the car but it looks a million times better now. I'll give it a proper wash and take some more photos later this week but suffice to say I don't feel the need to park it nose first into spaces any more. Right, time for tea! dome
Gave it a quick wash today so it now looks a bit more presentable. outlaw118, nacho man, Rusty_Rocket and 10 others

dome
And now, the end is near.... This has been a supreme waftbarge over the last couple of months but sadly now is the time to move her on. Moving house means that some spare cash would be handy and my collarbone is now fit again so Porsche hooning has recommenced. Here is how it looks now-front end is a lot better than it was but would need a new bonnet to make it right. It's on Gumtree at £700 ono but to a Shiter I'll take £500. A diesel estate may be of some use for house moving/commuting so if anyone has anything old and shite with some T&T then hit me up, as I believe is the common vernacular. brickwall
That is seriously nice, I love these and I love how they have no clutter inside. Graceful yet menacing - the way a Jag should be.
urpert
I was constantly trying to talk my parents into buying a cheap one of these (or the Daimler version) in the mid 90s. Really lovely. I always thought the handbrake was weird/hilarious. Do you squash your fingers every time you release it?
cort16
That's such nice car for the money. What's the t&t situation on it?
dome
Sorry, should really do the ad properly. Its MOT'd til December and tax til the end of August. Yeah, the handbrake is a bit awkward, I get over this by never using it. It does work though eddyramrod and urpert
Station
I have an Astra mk3 estate Isuzu turbo diesel (cooking oil) with roof rack and tow bar (both genuine Vauxhall ones - not that that should matter). Just been MOT'd last week and has tax until end of September. Front shocks are slightly dead but has two new ones I've not yet fitted (as well as a new fuel filter - just in case). purplebargeken
Very nice, best colour too. FJ used to classify all Jags as 'classics' if you were in the JEC. 3.2 is known sometimes for its rattling timing chain but this can also be down to a loose cover in the engine bay. Have had 3 Jags, best one was the 4.0 XJ6 bought for £90 on eBay, Head injuries are a bitch. Have long term issues after being hit on the head by a bus. Prior to that I fell in the shower and knocked myself out. Rode to work the next day and also had the best interview ever for a nurse specialist post - all whilst concussed. Couldn't have haven a shit and they offered me the job! Anyway, great Jag! Droopy headlining? GLWTS Ken
dome
Thanks Ken. Yep, head injury was the scariest part. Still felt the effects a few weeks later on. Was diagnosed as post concussion syndrome but I'm OK now. Headlining is perfect, I guess they had this sorted by the time this one was made, it is one of the last. No noises from the engine either, other than the usual broom broom ones.
Station
Here's the most recent photo - if you don't fancy it, don't worry, I need a 3200 six cylinder car like I need 3200 wasp stings to the bawls.
