retrogeezer
I was going to sell this anyway as we bought our old car back off my brother but unfortunately the head gasket went a couple of weeks ago on the way back from picking up the new one (genuinely)It's still drivable but I'm not sure how it would cope with a long trip. It's in really lovely condtion bodywise, a little rust on the rear arches but they are solid and it is mainly confined to the inner lip. There are plenty of pics on here from when I bought it last may. Also very clean inside too and drives very well with no horrible knocks or bangs. It even has a matching set of good Michelin Classics on it and everything works (other than heater control lights) It does need a rear silencer. No tax, MOT is up on the 28th. At the very least it would make a great donor car for parts as there doesn't seem to be any rust on the sills/doors etc. I know a head gasket is an easy enough job on these but we have bought another car and the h/g actually started to go on the journey to pick up the new one last month (our old car from my brother). It has had an easy life, has a little book with all the history in it and I spent a week last year cleaning and polishing it. I'm only the 3rd owner and the 2nd had it from September 94 when it was 6 months old. £250ish ono if anyone wants it, I'm in Crewe, Cheshire, 10 mins from J16 of the M6. It's worth about £150 as scrap and is far too good for that, the shell is in great shape and not the usual tatty looking heap. I'd also be able to keep the wheels/tyres/battery etc. Any interest whatsoever?

Mrcarlos
Scrap is at £85 a tonne so would weigh for about £100 tops - is £160 any use ? I can collect promptly , no quibbling . I'm a gm enthusiast so it would be mended and see a future life . Carl
retrogeezer
£110 a tonne here...bloke said it would be about 1200 kgs. £160 isn't enough as I would be able to keep the wheels/tyres/battery/uncut parcel shelf etc..

KruJoe
No mate, the condition in which you keep your cars is a great credit to you. really lovely condition bodywise, ... very clean inside too Bloody hell, if Si is describing his car like that, it must be MINT! Each one of his motors I've seen is genuinely spotless. I hope this gets saved.
retrogeezer
I can't even get a tiny bit of pocket money over scrap value for a near mint motor - crazy. Last chance for it now, if someone turns up at my door with £200 tomorrow they can drive it home - no offers unless they are bringing their own wheels and batttery. If not, I'm driving it to the breakers on Monday.

Skizzer
Sympathies and all that, but I'm not sure getting pissed off at us is helping anyone. It's only been a few days, and we're not webuyanycar.com. Are you advertising it anywhere else? Seems a shame to break it just because no-one on here happens to want it this week. Hope you do find a buyer, it looks in superb nick and is surely a bargain. Lacquer Peel

Lankytim
Actually, how easy would it to be to stick an Izuzizizi TD in this? Hypothetically of course. KruJoe
retrogeezer
not pissed off at anybody - just saying it's last chance for it is all. Someone on facebook supposed to come Thursday - didn't turn up. Another chap wants to put a Saab engine in it but can't pick it up until next weekend so unless I get a deposit from him then it goes to someone else or the breakers. simplz. Straight in apart from the O/S engine mount, which is welded halfway along the 'chassis' leg.

retrogeezer
A real shame, first car I have ever scrapped. Got £110 for it and kept the wheels with really good Michelin classics, Vauxhall mudflaps, stereo and a few other bits and pieces that some Cav owners might want. Thats life - still been a bloody great car for a year and bloody cheap motoring.
Rusty_Rocket
Genuine question- why didn't you do the head gasket yourself?
