Mr Lobster
Eventually got this collected from East London last weekend. Doesn't need anything too drastic, osf wing is full of plod so thats going, sunroof needs fixing and refitting then general fettling to get it running properly. Hopefully not going to take forever to get sorted.
r.welfare
Aha! TXE Electronique! Ideal for James Bond impressions. 1721cc?
Ratdat
Very nice! I can only imagine how nice a top spec R11 is as my GTL is pretty nice iteself. What's up with the sunroof?
Mr Lobster
Yes its a 1721cc so should be pretty rapid eventually.Sunroof? Well, its a tilt and slide steel sunroof job, the entire sunroof tray had been removed as the drain holes at the front were rusty. With these fixed I refitted it but it doesn't want to close properly with the back edge not closing flush with the roof. So its coming back out this weekend in an attempt to cure it.Sunroofs a bit of a pain really, the condition of the sunroof tray has caused a couple of small holes to break out in the roof skin itself which shouldn't be too much hassle to deal with....Would be easier if it just didn't have a sunroof at all really but there you go! r.welfare
Wouldn't be a problem if most folk rodded (ooerr missus!) their drain holes on a regular basis. From the amount of old motors I see with gaffa tape round the sunroof, it seems to me most people think the rubber seal is there to keep water out, it's not! It lets water in, and the drain holes take it away...My 406 had some fairly advanced rust around the sunroof aperture - and on the roof skin - because of this.1721cc should indeed be quite nippy. I've heard R5 GTX's are quite good with this lump, and certainly the pigiron Volvo 440 I owned years ago with this unit didn't feel disgracefully slow.Just don't chop it in half on a Renner 20 while wearing a dinner jacket

For me that sequence is most memorable (along with the R20) for the near miss with the Simca 1100 VF3 van heading the opposite direction before the eventual collision with the other Renault!
