WOW! Now here in Franceland there LOADS of these in mostly battered condition, but it's been YEARS since I saw an early 205/309 in that 'Sky Blue' colour. When I was a little, there was a Sky Blue early 309 in the posh housing estate I used to live at in Telford.

Please fill this page with as many photos as you can take. If needs be, I'll pop into town, nick some early 205 wheel trims and lob them over your way.

Not, but there could be another on the horizon. We've only got three now, and one of them is going tomorrow. My daughter's struggling a bit with the (non-power assisted steering) Cinquecento so that's probably going to be up for sale soon.

Nice one, Billy. :)

Despite it's GL badge it's still quite basic for a Pug, isn't it? For example, tt's not the same as the 1980s Ford Escort/Orion/Sierra GLs in the standard equipment stakes.

I think the 'G' in the 205 range meants that it has a pair of rear doors as opposed to 'X' which seems to designate 3 door only.

Today was collection day. £11.40 (or something like that) and just 19 minutes on the train to Crewe, a long-ish walk round an industrial estate trying to find the place, and voila!

Cash exchanged for paper work (he let me off the 1p) and I was lobbed the keys. It's got a choke so there was some faffing about to get it running and staying running, but it eventually settled down after stalling a couple of times in Crewe. I think there's possibly a wheel bearing drone somewhere and there's some grot on the os/r sill area, but doesn't look too bad. Original (LW/MW) stereo fitted, it works too, so had R5 Sport on on the way home, which I quite enjoyed, if truth be told.

Anyhow apart from some truly suicidal driving by a couple of right wankers on the A51 (a complete idiot in a Golf estate who overtook a tractor and was coming right towards me until I flashed the lights and flick the Vs and the silly twat had to pull back in pronto, and a gobshite in a silver Range Rover who pulled out of his drive blocking the road expecting me to move out of his way, I just drove straight at him and he reversed very quickly) it wasn't a bad drive home at all.

It's really slow until warmed up and booted a bit, then it just felt like it wouldn't stop pulling. Gear ratios are great, 4 speed manual and I rarely had to change down/up at all, aside from junctions.

It has that old Peugeot smell (like a sort of weird, hot plastic) and it really does show it's age as the whole driving experience* reminded me of my old Morris 1000: very comfortable, quite old fashioned, loads of room and a sort of detachment from the dashboard. I think it's got power steering, certainly seems lighter than the Corsa, which hasn't) and it had 1/4 tank of fuel in it according to the gauge, which didn't really move at all coming home.
