outlaw118
Does anyone one here know if there was ever a Montego model made by Corgi, or matchbox or anyone like that? I'm sure I've seen a Maestro.....
Lord Sterling
There were no Montego's made by any manufacturer, although there is Meastro, usually in Yellow with working lights, here a pic of one: Lord Sterling

mk2_craig
I loved the effort Corgi put into replicating the car's badging in moulded plastic on the bottom of their models during the 1980s, compared to the inaccuracies that crept in elsewhere in the castings
r.welfare
There's a supa-rare MG1600 Maestro Scalextric car as well. Corgi's output in the early/mid-80's was pretty good quality really, esp. the Sierra, Prelude and Acclaim with steerable wheels via the wing mirrors! Mr Lobster
Had both the yellow Corgi model and the Scalextric 1600 MG Maestro back in the day myself. There are no models of Montegos currently available although now that Corgi are getting their act together they *might* produce something in the Vanguards range one day... garethj
There's a supa-rare MG1600 Maestro Scalextric car as well.I've got that. Same chassis as the XR3i I think? Working front and back lights, and it's even badged as an LM10 on the box I also have 2 normal Metros and a 6R4, all with opening tailgates. Split_Pin
Ive got 2 of these Maestros, one Mint in box as above and the other a bit tatty.Corgi did a nice job of the base of the 1/36 Sierra too with the correct font and everything, got an MIB of one of thise with a promotional Ford box.Got the Acclaim too, WTF was going on with the steering wing mirrir thingies!? I really want the one that actually came in a Honda Ballade box, not sure if they modified the casting though.Other sweet 1/36 80's Corgi models are imo:Volvo 760 Turbo in metallic greyRover SterlingMerc 190Special Edition Minis with the later jewleeld headlight lensesRenner 11MK3 TrannyPug 505Citroen 2CV with poppy-up bonnetMk3 Escort (front wheels too far forward though to allow for door hinges)Mk3 Escort VanFOrd TRanscontinental TruckProb loads more too

Lord Sterling
I must be the connoisseur of models cars then. I have about 200+ models cars dominating my room at the moment (No thanks to evilbay), most of them are either, 1:43, 1:24 or 1:18's (Inlcuding a 1:18 BMW 530i, BMW 730i, Citroen XM and a Peugeot 605, I'll bung up some pix later) As for the 1:36 80's Corgis: Volvo 760 Turbo in metallic grey Rover Sterling x 3Merc 190 Mk3 Escort Mk3 Escort Van (Radio Rentals)Triumph AcclaimRange RoverFord SierraLotus Espirit (James Bond) And a load more that I probably cannot remember of. Now all I need is a:MeastroJaguar XJ6Jaguar XJSRolls Royce Silver..er..something from the late 80's, (I'll find out)Honda Ballad, saw one of these in a toy shop recently and for some reason I didnt buy it, I'm regretting it now. Some of the Corgi stuff I have now have recently been bought at a good toy shop that deals with old tat toys etc... as Its what I wanted/ruined as a child Lord Sterling
MrRegieRitmo
Sounds like it might be time to dig up my old 'Shite in Miniature' thread! http://autoshite.commlm/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2223&start=420I sold a few of my old Corgi 1/36 scale Diecast as I wanted to concentrate on 1/43 collectors models. I can confirm that the Corgi Driving school Acclaim / Ballade could be had marked up as either, in yellow it was an Acclaim but in red it was a Ballade, an identical casting but they were marked differently on the base. Both with the oversized steerable wing mirrors, I had one of each but the Ballade had one of the wing mirrors snapped off.Of those mentioned above, I had;Rover Sterling police car, rather battered,Merc 190, there was a large scale Matchbox one of these two, in fact I think it was the Superkings one I had,Special Edition Minis with the later jewelled headlight lenses - can't remember if they had jewelled lights or not, but I certainly had a few of the Corgi 1/36 scale Minis. Wish I'd looked after them, I had 'Mini Ritz', 'Red Hot', 'Jet Black', 'Jubilee', can't remember what others, think they all came in a set.Renner 11, had or got both the metallic blue one & the beige one somewhere, plus the newer James Bond version.MK3 Tranny had one of these as 'National Breakdown',Pug 505 had one in red, sold it on eBay as had at least one 1/43 version,Citroen 2CV with poppy-up bonnet, think I only had small scale ones of these, plus the Dyane,Mk3 Escort (front wheels too far forward though to allow for door hinges) - had a light metallic blue one of these,Mk3 Escort Van - had a couple of British Telecom ones of these, one came in a set. Also one of my childhood favourites of Pizza Delivery van!Ford Transcontinental - had a car transporter of this, quite a big heavy thing in red & white. Not sure if I've still got it. Plus a newer 'collector's model' BRS box trailer Transcontinental from the Corgi classics range.Have got the MkI Sierra in yellow somewhere,A rough condition MG Maestro,a gold Opel Senator,Light green Jag XJS,Medium blue XJ12C with black roof,Dark green Range Rover.Others I had that haven't been mentioned;Ford Cargo lorry British Telecom from the set, also with oversized British Telecom generator,Green Talbot Matra Rancho with opening tailgate & sliding seats,BMW 5 Series police car,BMW 5 series silver,Gold Land Rover Series III LWB Safari,Ford Transit MkII TipperFord Transit MkIII wrecker,Ford Transit MkII wrecker,Renault 5 in black,Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth (Spender's car)Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth rallyMercedes lorry in blue/yellow,Revopak refuse collector in orange,Ford Cargo cement mixer Peterborough concrete (or something),Honda Prelude MkI in cream with green stripe Honda Prelude MkI in metallic blueFord Capri MkIII Daily MirrorFord Capri MkIII silver (Professionals)Reliant Regal Supervan III (Only Fools & Horses)Austin Metro CastrolBMW E30 3 seriesAustin FX4 London TaxiBMW 750i (James Bond)Peugeot 205 T16 redPeugeot 205 T16 whiteMercedes 207DPlaxton Paramount coach National Express,Christ I could be here all night, probably loads I've missed but it's getting late & I can't be bothered to try & think of them! Here's another one I've just remembered...VW Polo MkI greenand another...VW Polo MkI turbo creamAlsoRover SD1 Police carRover SD1 blueRover SD1 red with black roofFiat X1/9 silver with red stripeRenault 5 Turbo in orange I thinkThat'll do as I'm racking my brain now! Pillock
Special Edition Minis with the later jewelled headlight lenses - can't remember if they had jewelled lights or not, but I certainly had a few of the Corgi 1/36 scale Minis. Wish I'd looked after them, I had 'Mini Ritz', 'Red Hot', 'Jet Black', 'Jubilee', can't remember what others, think they all came in a set.I've got about 6-7 sets of those minis, all with three cars in each. All with mint boxes (apart from one where the plastic window has fallen in). Can't remember most of the cars but I know there was a red/white/blue Italian Job set, there was a Red/Black/White set, one with posh metallic colours. Think most of them were based on real AR special editions.
