I'm building an automotive portfolio and it will contain all sorts of interesting stuff and I'm open to suggestions.  Therefore it makes sense to me to make another thread instead of tacking onto the bottom of the Art of Classic Cars thread because I can edit the title so you know when there's been an update.

Barest minimum, I have to complete one car picture a month.  Ideally I'm looking to complete one a week.  All of the content in this thread will be available to purchase, unless otherwise specified, and I'm not going to post past work in here, just the new stuff.

To kick things off, here's a picture of a Panhard PL17 going omnomnom.  Ã‚£40 for the original which includes the cost of posting it worldwide.  I don't always keep tabs of how long a piece has taken, but this one took about 6 hours from blank page to completed image.

2014-05.jpg

For those that might be interested in commissioning a piece from me that is a possibility and would be very welcome particularly now as my order books are worryingly empty at the moment.  I'm hoping it's just the usual January lull.  Full colour is £40, ink only is £20 and sketches are £10 each.  All pieces are A4 and I can be contacted by reply here, PM or e-mail as seen on the images posted.

@Colc:  Perhaps the loveliest of the Farina bodied saloons, I'd be more than happy to tackle that.

@Brickwall:  Prices below include the cost of delivery to wherever you might be in the world.

Full colour - £40 (as per the Panhard above)

Ink only - £20

Sketch only -£10

I'm working on a sample sheet today so you can see what colour/ink/sketch actually looks like.

First up, the sample sheet to demonstrate the different styles you can get a picture in so you know what you'd be getting for your money.

Commission Sample.jpg

The result of building the above sample sheet is another original piece for sale at the usual prices of a yellow Vauxhall Viva.

I have been told about that tyre a couple of times now.  I hadn't twigged when I drew it, the reference picture had the tyre on the wrong way round too.  The Nuns are probably round the other side of the barn having a crafty fag and a dram of whiskey.

This is a sketch of a Riley 4/72.  This, as it turns out, is one of the most complicated front ends of a car ever devised.

04.jpg

I liked the idea of drawing this rare Riley anyway, but then I realised as I neared completion of the details of the sketch that I had an issue.  What if Colc wants the artwork finished to look like his car and is willing/able to pay for that?  If so, it would be silly of me to complete the picture and not give him that opportunity so that's why I'm just putting the sketch here and dropping Colc a PM.

If it turns out he'd just like to see any Riley 4/72 in my unique drawing style then I'll complete it to my own tastes and add it to the portfolio, making it available to purchase by anyone whose eye it catches.

In other news, I had fun drawing something inspired by Japanese culture.  Those of a nervous disposition should probably avert their eyes from this one.  My favourite bit is the burnout clouds.

Another day, another car.  This is a picture that was threatened as a pick-me-up for a friend of mine who had some pretty shitty luck, he's the sort of person that a 1.1 Allegro in white can cheer up, he should be on here really.  This one's not for sale, but that doesn't mean I'm averse to drawing more Allegros, far from it.

2014-09.jpg

I didn't have a single photograph to work from on this one that was the right spec so I had to piece it together from various references as is sometimes the case.  Turned out reasonably representative of the car in question, but the scanner really didn't like the shading on the white paint and has decided to omit much of what you can see in person.

Glad you like that one, had fun trying to find a reference picture for it, it seems people are incapable of taking interesting pictures of Allegros.  Coming soon will be a '73 Dodge Coronet wagon because I realised the portfolio is a bit Brit heavy so far and I have nothing American in there at all.

The Allegro is superb, not least because white and black are difficult to capture properly and you've certainly cracked it there.

The perspective is spot on, and the dimensions are just 'loose' enough to look 'organic' without being cartoony. Yes, I'm aware I need to expand my vocabulary.

@IainL: don't be so sure.  I'll admit the Corsa isn't high on my list (it is on the list now), but they do have a pretty loyal following out there so it would be churlish of me to dismiss them.
