My mother has just been told she won't ever be able to drive again (due to torn ligaments in her shoulders) :-(This means my father will take over her Mazda 323 and will be looking for a buyer for his Honda.Any interest here?

Sorry to hear that, keef. Is this an old 'W' reg Civic or a new one?

GR8 motors, these. I ran a 98R 1.4 manual as a daily driver for a year and 20k miles back in 2000, when I was young and had plenty of disposable income  It was a well-built, competent machine that was comfy and pretty economical - 40mpg no bother. Of course, being 23 at the time it was a bit too "old boy" for me and I chopped it in for a 1984 Audi 80 quattro (net cost to change - £4,000 my way...) but that was more down to my love of shite than anything wrong with the Civic itself. Don't forget cheap road tax on these, plus this one has A/C, which wasn't standard on the 1.4. Good luck with the sale Keef.

Difficult to say really; might be worth removing the towbar and hoiking it for ££ on evilBay, I'd be wary of a small-engined auto with one on even if it had never been used to haul anything.£1,800 sounds fair but it depends what similar tin is going for on the usual channels. For someone who wants a quality dependable small auto it's probably about right. Others will point to the fact you could get a W-reg Astra auto for a lot less, despite the fact that the Astra will be more expensive on fuel and to tax as only the 1.6s and 1.8s were autos, I think. For reference, £1,800 is what I got for my wife's 51-plate Fabia 1.4 16v manual with similar mileage, spec and a very very full history (I have OCD when it comes to receipts) two months ago, and I had to sweat to get that - it was polished to an inch of it's life and had a fresh MOT put on it too. Give the Civic a damn good buffing, take decent pictures and see how she fares. You can always ask too much then drop the price later...

Best of luck with the sale Keef; if shipped up the road to Leicester it should sell instantly at that price. My neighbour there had half the street filled with that shape Civic each with a For Sale sheet in the side window
