Guest
Seems like the motoring trade is doing brilliantly lately! What's next to go I wonder?

mk2_craig
If I read this right, what Euro Car Parts have done is effectively bought out a competitor then closed them down within a week. What a crap thing to do.Wasn't LSUK the successor to Lucas?
jonkw
LSUK was Lucas Service Centres UK.Last week, ECP made a big deal about taking over LSUK and rescuing them, and making great store of the fact that ECP now had 108 "branches" in the UK. This statement was widely publicised by ECP, including an announcement of the takeover, and a new section in the Corporate section of their website.I am trying to find out today what the "unforeseen and exceptional circumstances beyond our control" were that caused ECP to close LSUK; last week it was all a bed of roses, LSUK Directors were "delighted" by the news, and ECP were going to develop and fund LSUK.I speak as a cynic who also works in the motor trade, and over the past few years I have seen many rescues, takeovers and the like; the end result is mostly that the rescued company closes or is integrated into the bigger firm with loss of premises and staff. The "rescued" company is generally raped of its valuables then discarded. On this occasion the usual ECP bullshit seems to have failed, spectacularly.
