A-ha! 1993 sounds like a Ford lump. Ought to bang in a 1.8 K series turbo, or go the whole hog, get the welder out and bung in a Rover V8.I stuffed a Range Rover EFi V8 in a mark 2 Escort, with a Jag 'box and a DS420 back end - that was quick, think how good it would be in something that weighs the same as a bag of crisps.

Tis a Daihatsu Copen - not too many of them around fortunately! At least they're distinctive, although not sure if that's a blessing or a curse!

As a die-hard small car fan, I have to state that I love the Copen, although they are ridiculously expensive for what they are. I like the Jap sub 1 litre sportsters like Cappuccino, but my fave is the Honda Beat Head above parapet awaiting flak ...

Be like me! Grab a slice of this cheap fun Alfa action! Ok so it costs about 6 times less than my one did and is about 3 years older & frankly looks it......but it says mechanically sound, & this is an Alfa so that's the main thing right?!

That looks quite good that 146. Still a £295 Alfa is something likely to give me recurring nightmares as to how long it will stay mechanically sound and how soon I would be reaching deep into my wallet!Brilliant cars when they are working though!

£295 is a good price for one of those, i could quite fancy one I must say. I really like the styling, greatly preferable to the 145 i think. However I will stick with the 33 for the time being, maybe that will comprehensively put me off Alfas once and for all.

Very true, and it does look very cheap at £295I do like the 146 Ti, bit more discrete and practical than the 145 I had. I'm just scared off ever running an Alfa again :)

My spot of the weekend?2 (that's TWO) Hyundai XG30s within the space of 100 yards, or 20 seconds in the car! Was on the Industrial estate on Saturday & outside one garage was a silver W reg one & then outside another garage a little further up was another silver one O2 reg. I only had my cheap mobile on me with the VGA camera so trying to take pics wouldn't have been worthwhile but it was still a newsworthy occasion! :D In 15 - 20 years time it would be the equivalent of seeing two Talbot Tagoras in the same street!

I must try and get a pic of the one I drive past every day - a silver 51 plater. It had 'for sale' signs in the windscreen for a while but perhaps the owner saw my admiring glances and became proud of it (and felt that someone like me couldnt afford to buy it off him anyway lol!)

The gauntlet has been well and truly thrown down, I will now make it my mission to photograph two identical XG30s with one press of the shutter button. To succeed I might have to involve own one first though

I reckon it might be simpler than you think... There's about ten over here (pop. 90,000ish), most of them silver! And yes at least one is a taxi so I could hire it to where I know there's another parked up :P

Ooh, I recognise this

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l170/M...

It lived in Andover about 3 years ago. It only stuck in my mind, as whenever I saw it, it was being driven exceedingly carefully and at the speed limit. Very odd!

As much as I hate to say it, hideous though it is, it's actually put together quite well...

With regard to the £295 Alfa - you buy it for 250 quid, run it until it breaks or won't pass an MOT (whichever is the sooner), sell £150 worth of bits on Ebay ECU, idle control valve etc) and weigh the rest for scrap for £250.Erase any thoughts of 'running costs' from your mind. There are none.

Things I saw today, all driving along apart from the Astra;.....a bright yellow Mustang Mach 1, a white 60s Cadillac of some sort, a silver Jaguar Mk X, a MkI Astra van Max Power style, a convoy of 3 VW Type 1s in different colours / styles one of which was a friend of mine called Jamie, believe they were on their way back from Newquay (Surprise!), a lovely blue & white pickup thing from the 60s, had a front end like a Viva HA but pickup (?) a red Hillman Hunter estate (I think, because there is more than 1 car that looks like this but I'll say HH).It's definitely the time for on the road spots as lots of interesting things come out to play in the summer weather! ( )Yesterday I saw a lovely white Triumph Stag, in Nigel's village; an open top Queen Mary double decker in Southdown's colours being used for a Summer Prom (so said the banner draped across the rear of it), & shortly afterwards a lovely old fashioned yellow fire engine from the 60s I guess & quite probably also to do with the village prom. I would guess that it was a Dennis. The only things I managed to snap were the Mustang, the Astra van (as it was stationary) & whilst we were queuing in traffic, my mate's purple Beetle! :) Quite annoyed about the Mustang as I was following it for a good wee while on the way to work & all I could managed was a fuzzy long range shot of it. When we arrived at the roundabout my phone camera was poised ready but eagle eyes spotted a police car so kept it out of sight till it had passed & just had enough time to press the button on my phone to snap the Mustang before it moved off. Gotcha! (or so I thought) It went a different way after that but I checked my phone a minute or two later to confirm there was a Mustang sitting on my screen......nope! A big fat picture of nothing!  You see sometimes my phone is no more than a £300 piece of junk & when you press the camera shutter button it can crash / freeze or worse, make you think it's taken the picture but then just sit there for a 2 or 3 seconds (by which time the subject may well have moved out of frame & then finally engage & take the goddam picture which by then is often of a finger, the sky, the ground, or wherever the phone is pointing at the time. Quite often even the inside cover of my phone case is a popular subject for it to take a picture of! Technology! The Astra van I'd been seeing parked outside Kwik Fit for the past week or so, obviously belonging to a member of staff. On the way home today I decided I could pass it by unsnapped no more, so I went upto the roundabout, turned around, came back & found somewhere to park. Wandered around upto the car then went over & took front & rear shots. Within 30 secs I caught sight of the owner in his Kwik Fit shirt wandering over to ask me if I wanted to buy it. I said no just like old cars & appreciate that MkI Astra vans / estates are a very rare thing now. He said it has got a GTE engine in it & when finished he was planning to use it as a track car, just needs a little attention to the floor. Was considering changing the colour of it, I told him it was certainly eye catching as I has been noticing it on the way home everyday. I asked him if he knew about Retro Rides, the website, he just mumbled something about buying the Retro Cars magazine. I didn't mention Autoshite as it didn't really seem fitting in this case & he might have thought I was being funny with him!

Here are some of the things I've seen this year that I didn't imagine....

That same suped up Chevette that I previously pictured in Nigel's village. It can often be seen charging along the A27 at 80 plus. I couldn't truly keep up when I was in the Renault but these days I toy with it in the Alfa
