AX Vancar for sale (not on eBay)

Yep, the one from the eBay thread. It didn't meet reserve on eBay and I don't want to re-list it as it'll take the edge off the original listing I think. Taxed until end of October, MOT until the 8th October (I think). 954(?)cc 4 speed, used most days and runs pretty well too. Could go back to being a car or at least having rear seats in it easily enough. Not perfect, far from it, but reliable, economical and great fun to drive. Needs welding to inner wings (driver's side is the worse), a little bit on the boot floor (not sure if this is structural or not so might not fail MOT), drivers window has to be pushed up and down by hand as winder seems to have packed up and anything else is mentioned on the eBay ad. the eBay had has expired but still visible if you want more detials and pictures... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... AQ:GB:1123 I'd like £200 for it which I think is pretty good value for something useable and unique. If I had time and money I'd get the welding done, tidy it up a bit and fit a bigger engine because as an advertising medium you'd be hard pressed to find something more eye catching! It's near Chester, Cheshire. In VERY easy reach of M53/M56/A55/A483 and easy reach of M6 North (warrington) and South (Stoke-on-Trent). I will take a cheaper part-ex, anything considered: decent mobile phone, lap top, scooter, motorbike etc or another old banger of some sort. I could do with some cash though as my modern daily needs taxing and I have 5 or 6 other vehicles too. Probably best to pm me if interested. Oh, please note any inspection wlecomed, if you live miles away ask someone nearer to come and have a look for you and report back in private. I have nothing to hide, I'm not a conman and the V5 is here in my name. It's for sale until a deposit or full payment is made, I cannot and will not hold it on a promise sorry (though I will not sell it if someone is on their way to view it!) as promises and false dawns don't keep my family fed.

Sorry Cav, I've refrained from commenting on this one so far and I don't want to come across as taking an opportunistic dig at you but frankly I can't work out why you've been buggering about with a scrapper that in all honesty most of us here would have had no hesitation in weighing in. Aside from the childish lettering there's absolutely diddly squat unique about it - looks for all the world to be just another tired old AX that really wants putting out of its misery. Can't you go back to the highest bidder and snap his/her arm off for that £155? :)

Unique - No.Taxed & tested and with a tiny engine - Yes.Just de-sticker it, silver the wheels and stand it on a corner at £225 and dick it off to some Captain credit crunch loser who`s just weighed his Laguna in because the tax is going up to £800,000 next year, isnt it?

Nah, still some use in it yet so not worth scrapping plus it has been a great laugh and still is. I can't complain about anyone's comments because I've opned myself up to them. This thing is shite and it knows it is, no airs or graces and no pretences either. I said it was unique because I can't see anyone else having one like this (because they wouldn't be that fucking stupid!), can you? Uniquely shite if you like, that's probably closer to the mark. It's had an offer elsewhere which I'm considering but as the lettering would come off in minutes and the welding wouldn't be too much to a competant welder (not me) then there's probably an easy 12 month life left in the old piece of shit yet. Also whilst it might be a lot of (bad) things it's not some wanky, over-rated, scene taxed, done-to-death unoriginal style either.

Hmm, plans maybe afoot for some sort of charity shenigans. It's been discussed on another forum and it was suggested we mentioned it on here to see if anyone else fancied it.It's NOT going to be a European adventure or anything like that and one or two aren't happy with wrecking the cars at the end but we do plan to try and do something.I quite fancy taking the cars to an off-roading course and playing last one standing but we'll have to see about that.Back to this vancar I do have to say Craig that whilst I'm open to criticism over it a) I didn't ask for it, B) it's a for sale thread and c) I reckon you went a bit overboard.I didn't ask you to like it or say anything nice about it and I don't expect you to but how seriously do you think I took it when I whanged the stickers on and do you honestly think I believe it's the greatest thing on four wheels? It'd have been easier to buy an old Ford, slam it & give it some dish, or some old VW and do the whole rat look shite, that kind of tired old crap. However I took a shit car and made it even shitter for what I think is a laugh. You don't have to like it, I didn't ask you to but seeing as it's a for sale thread maybe you should have saved your comments for pm or another thread. How many people own cars on here that everyone would love to own and no-one thinks is old shit that should be put out of it's misery?I'd suggest it's probably more childish to be so churlish and take the piss out of something that's already taking the piss out of itself.I'm not going to fall out with anyone over this but hope you can see where I'm coming from.

To be honest, I can't quite see where you're coming from - what's the appeal in buying something you don't like just to make it worse? If it was something which was utterly destined for the crusher I could sort of understand, but as far as I can see it's a cheap hatchback that runs with some ticket left to run. By default it is surely worth a couple of hundred quid to someone, even if they just weigh it in come MOT time.As has been suggested above, you could just tidy it up. A few hours getting the paint off the rear windows, applying a £10 set of trims and boshing a for sale sign or sticking it on eBay could quite easily lead to an easy £100 profit, meaning you could just put your money towards something you don't consider shit.

Only in context to the thread in which the comments were made. If I'd asked people's opinions of the AX then fair enough. I don't actually mind being flamed for it in the right place, not the for sale thread. Most comments to be fair were spot on: I could tidy it up easily enough and make it more sale-able but I haven't and I'm not, hence it being advertised like it is. My experience tells me it's worth £200 like it is and it's me who'll fall flat on my arse if I'm wrong, but hey, I can live with it.So, where does it stop? Do we all go to a thread about everyone else's vehicles that we dont like and say 'looks like a pile of shite that, what the fuck did you do that for and why don't you scrap it (or words to that effect)?' I have to confess it's only really Craig's remarks which I've taken any real exception to, everyone else's comments ,whilst perhaps not ideal in a for sale thread, were pretty reasonable and to the point, Hirst's last post being a good case in point.Like I say I don't want to fall out with anyone over this, seems pointless to me.Anyhow I'd better go, off to check my pm box to see how many people have been begging me to sell them the AX and when I've done that I need to contact sztin10 who IS A SPAMMING FUCKWIT because I am one in a 100,000 lucky people

Erm, because I was advertising it not asking for opinions? Tricky that wasn't it? I didn't especially care (except for Craig's remarks which I though were out of order) but you seem to have the bit between your teeth and want this to carry on. Are you a little pissed that your 'it's vile' comment didn't get a reaction? Oh dear, still I'm sure there will be other chances for your 'witty' and 'cutting' comments to make an impact. In fact this has now turned into your big stage, go bust a gut girlfriend.
