Angrydicky
Oooh I love this Rob. I never used to be interested in them, but since getting dad's old one I am a convert. Really wafty, and very reliable. Mine's only a fairly low-spec one, it's a runout 1.8 petrol auto model, with alloys and that's about it in the way of options. GSI sounds most appealing. RT is also a local reg to where I now reside - does that Rover dealer front plate carry the tag for Ames Rover, Bury St Edmunds perchance? HMC
As guest_curator this evening of the SHITE ARCHIVE I’m dusting this tome down and hereby bump this thread up. Great lockdown reading with lots heritage thrown in. Coprolalia, tapir and Jim Bell

RobT
Yes it was my fault, sorry. HGF. It had a leaky radiator, and I must've run it too low. My 2.0 8v Mk3 Cav was similarly afflicted at the time, but they are bombproof and these Rondas aren't.
RobT
I sold it to a mate who nabbed some parts off it for his 623GSi, so it wasn't entirely in vain. Edit: also got two trips to France out of it. That's Le Mont Saint Michel in the distance. Shep Shepherd, Tickman, Dick Longbridge and 6 others
beko1987
It started to go pop in the FoD didn't it? Shame as it was a nice car!
RobT
Almost. It was 3 miles from six cylinder's abode on my way home. So I managed to limp it back to his and wait for recovery.
phil_lihp
Blimey, there's a blast from the past. The Dopehead Castoff 214SEi ended up with me and kettled itself good and proper, then proceeded to fight me every step of the way during my ham-fisted repair attempts, culminating in a snapped head bolt during reassembly. That was due to be the end of it and it was about 5 minutes from an appointment with the hiab until a guy I knew through one of my clients bought it off me, he was an ex-Rover mechanic and not only did he fix it, he used it to do a charity rally around Europe, raising several thousand pounds for charity in the process. Apparently it was totally reliable over several thousand miles and apart from a new water pump it needed very little to get it fit for the trip. So that one had a happy ending, although I don't know where the car went after that. Dick Longbridge, RobT, rob88h and 9 others 11
HMC
Brilliant to see its life after the forum, it’s like one of those celebrity geneology shows in reverse. But for shite old cars. phil_lihp and somewhatfoolish

Jenson Velcro
I’ve also followed mr boll’s exploits both here and on the blue and miss his contributions. 19 minutes ago, Dave_Q said: Moderated away I'm afraid, he is on twitter. phil_lihp
The 25 Commerce van that started this thread is still around, it seems, although hasn't actually been anywhere in quite some time. Last spotted in 2017. Currently SORN and MOT has run out but not gone yet. mk2_craig, Coprolalia, Vince70 and 2 others

Isaac Hunt
It was all good stuff. I see from his twitter he has got the Zephyr running and had the Volvo in bits. Good to see he appears to be well and still pulling things apart and fixerating. HNY Boll
