A top tip for owners of European bikes - many European bikes have the drive on the opposite side to Japanese bikes. If you take a rear wheel in for a tyre to be fitted make sure the fitter knows which way the wheel will be turning. Most fitters will be used to Japanese wheels and could well fit the tyre on the wrong way round (that was the reason the fitter gave for my colleagues prang). After his prang I always drew an arrow showing the direction of travel on my Guzzi's wheel. You have to be very careful with any asymmetric front wheel as the disc/drum could be on either side. The tread patterns are designed to push water away, if the tyre is the wrong way round the water will build up under it causing aquaplaning, sliding etc, which could explain your 'moments'. Tomorrow ill blow them out (oooh matron) with compressed air and then more carb cleaner. I want this to be the last time I strip them for a while. I'm off minding the kids over Easter so aim is to have the bike at least running sweetly before I'm back to work..... Suspension working well with 15W fork oil at 60-90mph range, makes up for the harshness at low speed/in town. Suspect ill lob some YSS PD valves at them before the summer. Was lovely, lots of bikes out. Warm in the sun, pretty chilly in the shadows. Just went out to do a bit more work on my FZR1000 (now the FZ1 is gone). Carb leak cured, a viton seal around the offending needle valve seat cured that. Dialled the pilot jets in Cyl 3 very lean, so took that out 1/2 more to bring the exhuast temp to the same band as the other 3 [infrered thermometers are brilliant], Discovered the dash temperature gauge is reading low [lucky not to boil the bastard and have omg-hgf!]. So need to remove the corrosion on the earth for the rad and make sure the earth is pulled down to battery earth [resistance to battery earth pulling sensor voltage up]. Sounds as sweet as a nut now. The bloke on the red 200 (4th pic down) has had the exhaust/chip/roller/stage 4 upgrade and said it pulled like a train now and would sit at 85mph on the flat on the motorway. The red one is a basket case but the blue one is pretty good - engine needs rebuilding ( but I have two of everything and may lob a 70cc top end on it)Both tax & MOT exempt. Yay!Think the blue one is going to get painted in Rustoleum orange.Either that or grey. The downside is that the camper is now covered in salt and shit (the latter from when I got it stuck in the field), and the bog needs emptying etc. So, by way of a treat for doing my chores on the van I took advantage of the extra daylight and had a little run out on the DN. Semi rigid and attach to the bar ends with velcro if you don't want to bolt them on. I bought them for the Xevo - forgot I had put on a different screen so have about 10 degrees of steering before they hit the screen. Bit big on the Vity but fit the Guzzi and CBR600 allowing full lock (well, near enough on the CBR). Comfy, tough as fuck, shite proof, and they don't have steel toecaps. With enough G-wax in them, they last well too. I've had British and German ones in the past, and in my skint days, they were everyday wear. The shirts are good shit too, cheap enough to be disposable, and you can pick your nationality...!Mind you, the lovely TT jacket I picked up from a charity shop for £15 a while back was a good buy.
