Cool, love those Corgi juniors in the picture boxes, nice little collection there, shame that I had all those at one time but they all got mashed with a claw hammer or concrete block or Dad's vice or white spirit and aerosol! Why was I so destructive !

Phew! That's a relief, I thought I was the only one who pretended my dad's vice was the scrapman's crusher!!!

Ratdat kindly brought the Leopard and a fine selection of other kits for me last weekend, so got plenty to do now for the next 137 years.

When in the loft putting away the Christmas decorations, took piccies of this one:

Unsure of scale, but it’s big!

I finally gave in to temptation last week, and ordered the 1/43rd phase 1 Renner 25 off e-bay. Got to me, from Spain, in about 5 days. Quite pleased with it- the detailing is pretty good, and the lines and proprtions are good too. Not as good as the Norev phase 2, but not bad. Will photograph the 2 of them together over the weekend.

I have some miniature tat in played-with condition. From memory it includes Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, a Gerry Anderson car (not Thunderbirds) and some VERY basic Scalextric cars and a few other things. They belonged to a man who would be about 55 now so they would be mid-late '60s.None of it is in good enough condition to be worth proper money but I'd be willing to offer them individually or as a job lot to somebody who would appreciate them for postage and maybe a little beer money. Will photograph them over the weekend if anybody is interested.

Here are some pics of the Norev phase 2 model next to the phase 1 model I just bought. (No idea who the manufacturor is- no name on the box or the model!!)

It's not really apparent in the pics, but the Norev model really does look and feel the better of the two in the metal- interior detail in particular is astonishing, and the quality of materials is just better.

55 Bloke, Your phase 1 is an IXO casting (IXO are a Portuguese Die cast manufacturer who are churning out a lot of models of the cars we like right now) . It might not be packaged as such but trust me, it's from their 'Cars of the 80s' models sold in newsagents in Spain / Portugal along with a fortnightly partwork magazine. Usually the vendors don't offer the models with the partwork magazine but if you look you'll find some that do, if you want exactly what was on sale in the newsagents and you don't mind paying a little extra postage. Only ok for seeing what pictures they've put in there (sometimes good) unless you read Spanish!

If you wait long enough you will eventually find that the models IXO releases for partwork purposes only initially, will be inducted into their proper range with proper packaging, a proper price tag (£15 - £20), & often in a different colour. That may well happen with your phase 1 R25. They also release them again in the same colours but in a proper IXO packaged box also at a bargain price (upto £10) in their IXO Junior range which is widely available from diecast retailers & shouldn't be hard to seek out (probably why I haven't been racing to buy every partwork model as soon as they appear. Also because I can't keep up with the rate they're being released!).

To be honest, those two different models of the R25 line up together quite well, the proportions are close enough that they compliment each other satisfactorily. I wonder these days when manufacturers plan to release a model, whether they look to see what examples already exist from other manufacturers & scrutinize them to make sure they do a good enough job of their own version. I'm not saying copying because for all I know, they may even approach the other company up front to collaborate with each other which may be why we are ending up with a better spectrum of models (i.e. IXO may have approached Norev to say they were planning on releasing the phase 1, could they take a look at their fine specimen of the phase 2 to make sure they get it right?.......well you never know, do you!). I used to be dismayed when I was younger that Siku were the only company to employ strict scale policies mean that everything complimented everything else and looked 'right'. All small cars were 1/55 scale meaning everything 'went together'. The more expensive lorries & vans were also a uniform 1/55 scale, you could buy the matchbox sized 1/100 lorries, but they didn't go with the rest, so a bit pointless. But it meant if you wanted a car not produced by Siku, i.e. a Majorette Simca 1100, you'd have to put up with Majorette's wild scaling un-policy of anything between 1/53 to 1/60 & that was just on the cars! As a kid, if I'd of had my way, my toys would have been adult collectors models, none of these basic, undetailed, wrongly scaled, brightly coloured pocket money cars!

Now I have some minishite too! Unearthed this in my garage last week.

I've got that somewhere, I bought one online from a shop called Unique Collections based in Greenwich which has now closed down. It was described as near mint but was more like 'excellent'. The box was about mint though. It cost me £42! This was in the days before Corgi's decent saloon model in the vanguards range which you can pick up cheaply in virtually any colour you like. They never did the coupe though so I don't feel quite so sick.

I'm still quite impressed with your camera Mr 55 bloke, how far can you zoom in?

Autoart make a fantastic 1/43 Lotus Esprit like that and the 800 was available from Corgi albeit at the slightly larger 1/36 ish scale.

Yes thanks Mash, got it as a turbo like that one but in white. I think it was specifically that blue Essex one that I'm drawn to. I bought a battered 1/36 police car of the Rover 800 & I've got the small scale Matchbox one too marked up as a Rover Sterling but it's about time somebody started to produce grown up models of all the missing Rovers! We need the 800 (MkI & II), the 600, the 400 / 45 / ZS and the 200 (MkI, II & III) / 25 / ZR, in general Rovers as models have been neglected much like the real ones!

Wooaahhh! Here we have a model from my fantasy wish list! Previously only available as an obsolete resin kit, a die cast model of this vehicle is now reality & an absolute must for my collection! If I channel my telepathic thoughts towards IXO, hopefully we'll shortly get the VF1 too! I was imagining what a super model it could be, now I don't have to! :Dhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SIMCA-1100-FOURGONNETTE-VF2-1975-IXO-1-43-Neuf_W0QQitemZ350017696901QQihZ022QQcategoryZ92173QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemIf you really are raiding my thought bank, can we also have a Chrysler Sunbeam / Ti / Lotus roadcar pretty please?? A Peugeot 305 estate, a facelifted MkI Passat, a Simca 1100 estate, a Peugeot 104 5 door, a Morris Ital, an Austin Maxi, a MkI / MkII Escort estate, MkI / MkII Granada estate, MkIII Cortina estate, MkIV Cortina, MkV Cortina estate, 1970s Vauxhalls e.g. MkI Cavalier, Carlton & Chevette, European spec 1970s Datsuns.....Mmmmm that'll be enough to be getting on with for the moment I should think!:lol:

can we also have ... a Morris Ital

A mate modified the Vanguards Marina a while back with lots of body filler and epoxy resin to create his own Ital, looked a bit shonky mind.
We'll be the judge of that - gotta be worth a picture! :D Roxley models have done the Ital van, I had one in Metropolitan Police livery a while ago but I decided to sell it because it was in 1/48 & didn't go with my 1/43 collection which I have decided to stick to. It also seemed slightly oddly proportioned to me. Managed to get £50 for it on the bay though, not bad as think I bought it for about £42-45 something around that mark! :D

Cool - are those tiny 1/76 vans Bedford CFs? If so can we have some close ups? :D

That's another vehicle that's been neglected, we need a 1/43 collectors model Bedford CF, they've concentrated on Transits old & new recently but it's time we were also given CF1s, CF2s, and Leyland vans! Such a glaring gap to be filled......Leyland Sherpa, Leyland Freight Rover, Leyland Daf 200, 400, LDV Pilot etc again covered by Roxley models but they're always 1/48 & hand built so pretty expensive (usually at least £50 for a kit I think & even more when they're ready built)

The baby CF vans are HO scale by German company Wiking. I have a minibus and a van somewhere but I didn't know they did a pick-up. I think the only reason they were modelled is that he CF was sold as an Opel Blitz in Germany (though I stand to be corrected!)
