***Vintage Renault Alert***

I was TK Maxx earlier and they had some 1:43 Renaults.

There was a roofless Rodeo in red, a 4 F6 van looking like it was in a motorsport support role and a couple of differently liveried 4CVs.

The 4CVs were in blister packs but the van and Rodeo were on solid bases with clear plastic tops.

They looked like a bargain at £3.99 (and I've just found them online for about £8, sorry Mr L) but sadly I had no camera and only a dead phone with me.

There was only one of each so I hid them behind some JCBs and can go back tomorrow if anyone is interested.

I'd be happy to purchase and post if you'll cover the cost.

They also had some rather nice 1950s Alfa Romeos...

If the 4F6 is still there and you happen to be going back, if you can get it I'll sort you some moneys for it!

Where did you buy those glass cabinets?

The two corner-cabinets came from Kays Catalogue! See, the old-fashioned methods are still valid... :D The one with the pink Cadillac in came from my wife's employer, it was simply surplus to requirements; the one with all the little UK and European copcars in was a tenner in the Salvation Army furniture warehouse. So check out that big thick mail-order book, you never know what you might find; also keep a close watch on charity shops, discount warehouses, etc. Don't forget your local paper, you might just find used cabinets advertised in there.

And the buying continues, but at the moment on behalf of my friend. I've bought him four 1/18 cars on the bay in the last couple of weeks, and only one is yet to arrive (Lancia Delta Integrale). Not bad considering the international shipping element. There are others I'm still looking for, he knows he might have to be patient for some of them as they aren't being made... yet. Unless you know of a 1/18 XJ6 Series 2? Rover 2000? Triumph Dolomite? :D

If you'd asked during the week...

I'm going on holiday tomorrow. I'll have a look upon my return but I'd say check your local Tk max

Ah well, already been and had a look in the local one but no joy. I'll see if I pass any others in the week.

Enjoy your holiday!

I'm on Otto Mobile's mailing list now!

They've just brought a 1:18 scale Safrane Biturbo out, and new stocks of their 306 S16.

If I had the space their 405 Mi 16 and 306 would be sitting on a shelf of mine at home.

I've never seen any of the Otto models in the flesh so to speak, but if they are as good as they look then at 39 Euros they seem pretty damn cheap!

Put it this way, work still owe me six months of back pay.

I'm tempted. If I get one (or two) should I bring them round?

Not sure if theres any interest, but in a similar vein Modelzone at Pollok has several Michelin liveried contraptions, Acadienes, Peugeot J7s and the like, plus a handful of different R4 vans, I think a couple of R4 cars and a selection of orange soft top Renault Moke fuglies, all at £3.99 or £4.99... anyone interested and I'll take a run back up on payday?

  • 2 weeks later...

Today I rediscovered my old builder's bucket of die cast cars, and found a complete Matchbox Matra Rancho in yellow, equipped with fully operation rear fold down door. Are these rare, couldn't imagine the attraction for them at the time.

I've got loads of Burago (I think - they're the standard 12 inch ones) cars still in boxes that I got in the 80's. I'm going to have to dig them out.

I only have one model car- Christine!!, 1958 Plymouth Fury (from the film Christine)..

She's around a foot long and has smashing detail, the doors, bonnet and boot open, there's working steering and the headlights work due to two three volt lithium batteries 8)

Bought this from Modelzone for a mere 9.99

After a quick look I'm not entirely sure if it's easily detachable from the box or not. Also bought a Brera but it was of such naff quality I gave it straight to my Mum for her to give away in her school fete

Then this Commodore off ebay, similar to the one I had in NZ

And yes, there is a Ford sticker on the base :?
