Nice collection Tayne, is that first gen RR a Burago model?Shit i just remembered I need to post you that police one, I was waiting for all this bank holiday stuff to calm down, with all the havock it can reap on the postal service.Lobster, that minichamps Escort is so good, I love how they even manage to replicate the stance of the cars at that scale.

Trouble is I have to make everything, and anything I cant get in kit form I have to scratchbuild so its taking ages.

It took me a long time to understand the concept of scratchbuilding, meaning building from scratch, not scratching something to make something :oops:

But even now I can't really comprehend how you can make a model out of nothing, i.e. not based on a kit or something......I just can't get my head around it, I wouldn't know where to begin! Surely you'd need some sort of moulds or templates or something...just something to work with or from!

Oh I have toyed with this idea of building a diorama for many months now, and its not like Im short of cardboard, living above a shop and all.I just dont know where to start, plus I need wood as well, as a cardboard piece could look a bit flimsy without a base or 'supporting wall' if you will.I could do it this summer....... possibly.

I use plastic card and whatever else I can lay my hands on. Various plastic bits and bobs such as angle profiles are available, but it aint cheap.

Some shots of my latest mini shite. I really will have to peg the collecting back now, mainly for the sake of my bank balance and space.

A pea green Lada Samara is on the way from China.

I ended up going to the Toy Fair at the Reebok Stadium with Fatha_wat. Cheap entry and there was some good stuff on display, although the prices varied massively.

I don't really collect rally stuff, but this IXO Citroen BX 4TC seemed canonically shite - after all I'm a fan of the underdog. I'll get myself a Simtek S951 if the price is right. This was £9 well spent.

Next, a lovely blue Minichamps Ford RS 200 caught my eye. These seemed to vary in price according to stall and colour. The blues varied from £15 - 50. One seller had all three colours and was asking for £80 for a white 1:43! Madness. My blue 'un was £15.

Finally got myself the Minichamps Polis Amazon Kombi I wanted. Only one store had it, and it cost me £22 for the bother. Mind you, it was better than the £30 he wanted to start with.

Finally, this shop soiled-but-sound Vitesse Mitsubishi Carisma caught my eye. Really crazily detailed for a 1:43 - it has dials in the instrument binnacle, textured trim, and an opening bonnet and doors. Case is a bit knackered but responded to a clean, and the model itself is mint. All for a bargainous £4.

Was looking at the Hornby APTs as well. I have one of these, it tilts and everything. Didn't realise they were worth that much.......

Looks like you did pretty well there Wat! I did think about going but couldn't really be arsed in the end. The price variations are half the problem with fairs like Reebok, you get those people selling stuff at a massively inflated price but also a few that are dumping stock and will sell at essentially cost price - £15 for your RS200 is cheaper than wholesale price on Minichamps.

I've got this book...

Loads of information on scratchbuilding, err... buildings!
