Rover 820 sterling = MkI? White metal was gold but thats ok
Ford orion 1.4 = which one? MkI = IXO, MkII(?) = Schabak mk2
Seat ibiza system porshe = which one? MkI = IXO, MkII = Doorkey, MkIII = nobody, MkIV = IXO, MkV = IXO (I think) mk1
Toyota corrola = which one? There's the bug eyed one by Vitesse in hatch or liftback form, the one after that Minichamps was d reg ?
Vauxhall astramax = AHC Pilen
Vauxhall cav mk2 glsi = Vanguards, Gama
Ford orion 1.6 lx = Schabak or IXO mk4
Ford escort xr3 (not i) = Vanguards, Minichamps
Vw schiroco = MkI - Minichamps, MkII - Conrad, Norev, Neo mk1
Vw bettle 1300 = Minichamps, Eagle's Race, loads of possibilities here
Vauxhall Astra mk2 cdi = Gama, Minichamps on the way
Vauxhall Astra mk1 gte = no GTE AFAIK, but normal there is Gama, Minichamps, Schuco Minichamps Releasing Sept 09 as Kadett SR in white
Ford escort mk1 1300 e = Vanguards, Minichamps
Ford escort mk4 1600 lx = nobody
Ford Sierra xr4i = in 1/43?? Solido, that's about it I'm afraid
Ford sierra Xr4x4 estate = no chance
Vauxhall Chevette (2.0 pinto) = forget it was a 1.3 in white 3 door

ah, i see now. Sierra finally sold on ebay, so now i have some more cash for something diecast, watch this space.Oh also, escort mexico came today, what a good model! You were right, this casting is spot on.However, why on earth did Vanguards decide to make it so you have to attach all the sirens and the wipers  Surely only that one had that odd feature....

My favourites are a 1300E in purple with silver coachline, oblong front headlights & bumper mounted spotlights & a light 'electric' blue one with black rear panel, also with oblong headlights...

EDIT:

here's the evergreen one Brammy mentioned

red Mexico

Posted Image

I have the Mexico in an attractive shade of bright green! Unfortunately I can't find a picture of it to link to.

The purple velvet Escort above takes me back to one very similar I was given a ride in as a special treat when I was about 8, as at the time they were my favourite car & I always wanted one in purple or orange. I think it belonged to the daughter of the owner of a model shop we had popped into whilst on holiday in Cornwall, the model garage, Redruth, what a shop that was! 8) I made my parents buy me a Dinky Ford Escort MkI Panda car & then I got a lift in a real one (road car), what a holiday that was!

EDIT 2: Bugger the top pic won't link for some reason! :x

Apparently it's been cancelled but then it says that about some of the other ones which have gone on to appear anyway, like the Top Hat Avenger, so who knows?!

I've got the first MkIII Cortina in the maize yellow colour, but I need and am looking for, the metallic Fern green one below it!

Cheers - if we get the right answer, I'm putting in for the bronze Corty!

That yellowy colour one disappeared quickly as people were proclaiming it to be the 'Life On Mars' car, even though it was only similar but actually a different colour. Then the bronze / copper coloured one came out that actually is the Life On Mars car, so understandably everyone went a bit crazy for that one too!

I had been noticing your Merseyside police MkI Escy & observed that it has a higher RRP than other police cars such as the Sussex police Capri! I can only assume it's cos of the heavy duty light box / spot lights on the roof, seems a little excessive to ask another 3 or 4 quid for that though! :?

Purely down to differing wholesale prices to be honest. Why Corgi thought the Mk1 Escort should be more expensive is beyond me.

Question:What to folk around here do for displaying their shite in miniature? All these wall/shelf cabinets, you know the glass-fronted ones seem to look very dated, so not acceptable in my living room. Seen a couple of clear plastic ones, but they are open-fronted = constant dusting! Also, where can one get hold of a 1:43 garage, I missed one on eBay earlier this week that looked proper cool, ideal for parking scale shite outside...

All these wall/shelf cabinets, you know the glass-fronted ones seem to look very dated, so not acceptable in my living room. Seen a couple of clear plastic ones, but they are open-fronted = constant dusting!

I've got a couple of Ikea cabinets that look pretty decent. You can also stick a few other bits and bobs in them which keeps 'the management' happy.
Something like this - Posted Image

Also, where can one get hold of a 1:43 garage, I missed one on eBay earlier this week that looked proper cool, ideal for parking scale shite outside...

Norev do a few nice dioramas, bit scarce in the UK but a few on eBay.fr

or

Posted Image
http://cgi.ebay.fr/D... ... 0181935765

Norev did a whole series of the later style - each shop front with a bit of pavement and street. From memory there was a chemist, brasserie / pub, boulangerie, fire station, couple of different garages and possibly some others I have forgotten. They tend to be a bit rare now but search eBay France for Norev boutique / Ambiances Norev / Decor Norev and you might find one.

I looked at those IKEA cabinets, on the suggestion of Er Indoors. They would look nice, but 1:43's would get a bit lost in them I feel, certainly with my [currently] small collection. Am wochend I shall be installing a floating shelf above the telly for them...
