I think some people do think like that, yes. I don't, though perhaps I would put that extra bit of thought into some a bit more unusual/scarce. There again, I don't have any that are that valuable - pretty much as soon as I get any kit I break open the packaging to suss out what wheels there are, what else would suit the body and so on. They're all - eventually - going to get built or bits robbed off them in some way.

I'm in kit mode just lately and I've dug out one I've had for years but never plucked up the courage to tackle. I don't know how long ago I got it but it was not long after I'd bought my FB so at least 12 years.

This is pretty rare actually and is by Frog. Not sure of the scale but it's about a foot long and very accurate.

Unfortunately as you can see, some numpty didn't do a very good job of starting it donkeys years ago and though it is complete needs a good deal of fettling. Anyone got any ideas how I can get the paint off it to start again?

You can get paint stripper specifically for models. It's like a paste. You spread it on and place the model in a placcy bag overnight then wash it all off with the paint. i have used it and it works really well. I think it was just called 'modelstrip" or something like that.Another cheaper method is to use brake fluid. Just soak it in a tub of it for a while but make sure it's the old stuff not synthetic. I believe oven cleaner can work too although i've not tried that one.
