New from Neo are these Saab 99s. Very nice indeed. Can't decide which version I like best.

Also, I've just got one of these by Norev in the Lancia collection. Excellent model:

The NEO stuff is indeed very lovely. However, NEO whacked up the wholesale price by something daft like 40% back in December giving a RRP in the region of £60 which for a 1/43 model is way too much. They're nice, just not THAT nice.

Really?! Bugger! They have chosen some really tasty subjects! I've never bought any but can't conceive that I wouldn't have done in the future! However, how can they justify that? It's not as if they were cheap in the first place, not compared with the likes of Minichamps which I consider the market / class leaders!

I would assume some of the price increase is down to currency and the £ acheiving parity with a bottletop. We had a lot of NEO stuff on order for this 2009 releases but have cancelled it all as it becomes too expensive to hold in stock given the market for people buying 1/43 models over £50 is not a massive one.For the money Minichamps are superb although some Norev and Schuco stuff is very good. There are a lot of new Minichamps models coming out this year which should prove very popular... :D

I'm sooo far behind now with my model collecting, I had a guy who was a model trader & I would order the models I wanted for the coming year, mainly Minichamps, through him. However, I haven't seen him for about 18 months & I was afraid to ask what was happening in case I found out either something had happened to him, or he would turn round & say 'Ahh I was waiting for you to get in touch, I've got 150 models you need to pay for!' Anyway, I sent him a 'Happy New Year' message last month & found out he's retired now through ill health, so that's all models I'd ordered in 2006 / 07 considered written off (I never saw him to put in any orders for last year!). So I've got a lot of catching up to do! Does your shop keep a good back catalogue of older models?

Reg, concentrate on keeping your 1:1 in decent, reliable nick before spending too much on smaller stuff that you feel you 'have' to collect.

Says the person who went to a Toyfair today and came back with things he didn't need

The home of one previous owner Japanese cars:

1973 Datsun 1200 B110 2dr; 1980 Laurel 2.4 C230; 1988 Sunny 1.6 LX N13
1992 Camry 2.2GL (definitely just for spares now); 1993 Camry Estate 2.2GL on the road again!!

And a couple of modern Toyotas

To a point.... We buy quite a lot of Minichamps as we know we can sell them as there is always a demand. This does mean that with Minichamps it doesn't tend to sit around that long and as with anything produced in limited numbers, once its gone, its gone! Let me know if there is anything specific and I can check if you like

Brilliant! I missed a few of the foreign ones on eBay so this'll be a second chance! Will we get regional variations like there was for Spain / Portugal with them getting their country's registrations on them?? That'd be too cool for school! On a separate note, this chap has got some interesting stuff for sale! http://stores.shop.e...s__W0QQ_armrsZ1

But will wait till they're up at a reasonable price & being sold by a European eBayer, mint & in the original box, not someone from Asia who has nicked it off the production line...

Always possible  Let me know via PM if theres anything you want and I'll see what we can do... Anyway, new in the 80's stuff this week is - Opel Manta GT/E, Seat Ritmo, Malaga, Marbella and Talbot Samba. They are exactly the same off the magazines in Spain so no regional differences. The deal is that the magazine people won't allow them to be sold in Spain so a guy sells them in bulk to some people in France who sell them again to the people we buy them from!

I'd quite like a couple of those yellow Fiestas, I held off from buying one when first released on the basis that they would surely come down in price but the opposite happened. The mk1 XR2 models are pretty expensive now!

Funnily enough, it was shite that got me, as a 6 month old, into cars. My first car toy was a little Renner 5 that quickly became my favorite. I eventually had a few hundred little dinky cars and I always preferred the "everyday cars" to the fantasy Hot Wheels machines.

Here's a few of them.

Toyota MR2
Posted Image

Ford Crown Victoria. I bought this one later in life, clearly.
Posted Image

Toyota Lite Ace
Posted Image

Fiat Tipo that got in a little prang
Posted Image

The Ford Transit that rear-ended the Tipo
Posted Image

I lost this Mustang when I was about 6 years old. Found it again in the crack of the couch when I was 13.
Posted Image

Pontiac J2000. Pontiac version of the GM J-Body. Can't remember the last time I saw a real one.
Posted Image

Porsche 924. This one used to belong to my grandparents but they gave it to me when I was wee.
Posted Image

Volvo 760 GLE. Complete with tow hook, of course.
Posted Image

A tidy little Renault Clio
Posted Image

5-door Renner 11 Turbo!
Posted Image

One of the few cars I had that obviously wasn't a real car. Always wanted a full size one, though.
Posted Image

Chevrolet Caprice Taxi
Posted Image

Mercedes-Benz C126 with flash graphics, black headlamps and big wheels.
Posted Image

Ford I think? Woody wagon.
Posted Image

A rather girly 5-door Renner 5
Posted Image

Ice Cream van
Posted Image

Pontiac Trans Sport
Posted Image

Not sure what this is meant to be but the front suspension has collapsed.
Posted Image

One of my favorite Mercs, the 190E
Posted Image

Bustleback Cadillac Seville with a missing grille
Posted Image

...and a complete one with slightly different graphics
Posted Image

Merc limo
Posted Image

E30 M3 chop-top. Great wheels on this one
Posted Image

Mustang that had a bit of a roll
Posted Image

This one is actually rather special. It was at my late grandparents house and was played with by my dad and his siblings. I used to play with it whenever we visited their house. Ford Maverick with some modifications.
http://img.photobuck...ep/S73F4483.jpg

Olds Omega. Loved "driving" this one around.
http://img.photobuck...ep/S73F4484.jpg

Mercedes W126. Those fantastic wheels again.
http://img.photobuck...ep/S73F4485.jpg

I was never sure what sort of truck this was meant to be, but I liked it.
http://img.photobuck...ep/S73F4487.jpg

Plymouth I think? This was my Dukes of Hazzard-esque cop chaser
http://img.photobuck...ep/S73F4488.jpg

Nissan 300ZX with flashy graphics and oversize wheels
http://img.photobuck...ep/S73F4489.jpg

Ford Cargo Dairy truck
http://img.photobuck...ep/S73F4490.jpg

Another one that I don't think was actually anything, but I liked it.
http://img.photobuck...ep/S73F4491.jpg

Dodge Daytona that had great taillamps
http://img.photobuck...ep/S73F4492.jpg

Saviem bus
http://img.photobuck...ep/S73F4493.jpg

Fiat Coupé. Another later-in-life purchase
http://img.photobuck...ep/S73F4494.jpg

I think this was Dick Tracy's car or something. Actual rubber tyres
http://img.photobuck...ep/S73F4495.jpg

Cadillac Fleetwood limo
http://img.photobuck...ep/S73F4496.jpg

Another Renner 11, a 3-door with opening sunshine roof this time
http://img.photobuck...ep/S73F4497.jpg

"Mad Bull" Jeep. Great for playing on the beach.
http://img.photobuck...ep/S73F4498.jpg

And finally, an Austin FX4 with glorious wheel trims
