Shite in miniature

Does anyone know which company made a model Leyland Princess in the 70s? I've seen one on a tape of an old 70s TV programme (a Nationwide report about the price of tea in motorway service stations, as it happens!), but I've never seen one in real life. And that yellow Alfa's reminded me - I have somewhere a blue Citroen GS that's made entirely out of some strange bendy/rubbery plastic (no windows, it's all this blue stuff), with black plastic wheels. I can't remember where I got it now, but it was in the mid 80s as my parents had a blue GSA at around that time. The toy itself is like some kind of bath/beach toy - has anyone ever seen one of these things before, or anything similar?

The rubber cars are made by Tomte, see more here....http://toys.search.ebay.co.uk/tomte_Toys-Games_W0QQcatrefZC12QQfromZR40QQfsprZ0QQsacatZ220I have a Renault 16 somewhere exactly like you described. As for the Princess, as marinast said it will be a 1/36 ish scale Dinky toy as until the recent Corgi/Lledo Vanguards Princess it was the only die cast model in existence on general release of a Princess since the 70s when Dinky released it probably alongside or just after the car. It took till after the Millennium for any other mainstream manufacturer to make a Princess model (Vanguards) now I wish they'd hurry up & make an Ambassador too! :D

Just bought this on E-bay from Korea:

Its a Hyundai XG 30 (see mk2 Craigs Jersey thread for a pic of the real thing), and there is hardly a smidgeon of english anywhere on the box, save for the explanation that XG stands for 'Extra Glory'.

Its not a great model but its authentically Korean, which is why I love it.

I also love my Model Lada Riva (thats VAZ 2107!) as the box is almost entirely in cyrillic

What are you doing in my bedroom?? lol Christ - where to start? I'll need to go back to the beginning & go through them again. Infact scratch that, I need to go to bed first. Then tomorrow I will go through them. It looks like we cross over on quite alot of stuff, well mainly the Euro stuff. I've got shot of alot of my old Corgi / Matchbox stuff as there simply isn't room to collect everything, so I've created a personal rule only to collect 1/43 scale stuff. Mainly I buy Minichamps, Corgi Vanguards, IXO, Auto Art, Trofeu, Norev, Universal Hobbies, basically anything I like the look of from a collector's brand. I spotted one or two or your things I've tried to get myself but so far haven't, so be careful I don't find out your address or you'll have to pace up & down with a baseball bat making sure I don't sneak in & out with something  Anyway goodnight.

Nice collection there. Is the 1/18 R12 Gordini the Solido model? Solido are also releasing a 1/18 R5 & R5 Alpine very soon - already available in France and should be out in UK in the next month or two together with that R12 Gordini in a couple of different colours.

I had the Burago R14, though mine seems to have been only slightly less durable than the real thing, unfortunately. :( The also did a really nice Maigret-style Traction Avant which was one of my favourites, though that's gone as well now. Those model R12s are lovely - and is that a Lada Riva I see in one of the pics?

Glad they are appreciated on here - they get funny looks from my visitors lol! Mr Ritmo could you possibly post up some pics of your Burago Ritmos pleease- I only have the 1/43 scale one! I'm trying to get my hands on a 1/24 Scale Regata on the'Bay.I sooo want one of those Bburago r14's but they go for too much on E-bay  THe 1/18 r12 is a Solido model - theres loads of them on E-bay but all in Europe sadly. The big double Webers are nicely modeled on it :D And yep thats a Lada Riva (Vaz 2107) in the piccy. This is probably my fave model as it is still listed on the Vaz website as of 2008!!!!!

I'm sure plenty of Citroen SMs visited the Pyrenees! Trouble is guys viewing the auction might quickly forget what they were bidding on. Mind you they'd probably end up in some kind of trance & just keep hitting the bid button! and it wouldn't help sell to those swarms of female die-cast collectors out there!
