August price of scrap

Took the Cavalier (not me daily driver, the one sazt on me front lawn for the last 5 'n' a half years) with some other stuff in it to ERM in Leeds, 1.11 tons fetched £160.50 - £145 a ton. If I'd managed to do it a week or so ago, it would have been £160 a ton. There's a recycler's in Ripon too, but they were only offering £110.

There's a scrappy in the 'paper offering £80 for whole cars, used to be £120. Hopefully the bubble's burst.

I think the mad bubble has burst, I phoned a few places that do this sort of pick-up and one offered £40, the best offered £75, because they couldn't sell a great deal off it. Especially seeing as I took the headlights, alternator, injection system (how easy is it to take off L-jet???!!!) inlet manifold, ecu and cylinder head...So I enlisted the help of a work colleague with a Discovery (diesel and grub - £20), hired a trailer from Rothwell trailers (just under £30 - excellent for full day hire) and a morning - so I'm £35 up on what the pick-up artists would have paid me.

I bought some wheels yesterday off a geezer whod just scrapped his Alfa 145, the scrazza had given him £40 for it! Mean.
