retrogeezer
Took a trip to this (free) show on Sunday, was much better than I expected. I took loads of photos but have only uploaded a few 'choice' ones! Enjoy: Loved this: And these: Awful wheels: Thats better: Gorgeous: Nasty fire has wrecked the interior & glass: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/retrogeezer/Autoshite/DSCF3583.jpg Really liked this too: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/retrogeezer/Autoshite/DSCF3596.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/retrogeezer/Autoshite/DSCF3612.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/retrogeezer/Autoshite/DSCF3615.jpg The owner wanted £5k for this complete with bodged rear arches:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/retrogeezer/Autoshite/DSCF3616.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/retrogeezer/Autoshite/DSCF3620.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/retrogeezer/Autoshite/DSCF3625.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/retrogeezer/Autoshite/DSCF3631.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/retrogeezer/Autoshite/DSCF3622.jpg Are the rear lights from a Fiat Brava? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/retrogeezer/Autoshite/DSCF3633.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/retrogeezer/Autoshite/DSCF3634.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/retrogeezer/Autoshite/DSCF3635.jpg Horny FS1E http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/retrogeezer/Autoshite/DSCF3640.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/retrogeezer/Autoshite/DSCF3654.jpg And this was just a passer by stuck in the traffic! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/retrogeezer/Autoshite/DSCF3660.jpg
Spottedlaurel
Some nice stuff there indeed, looks like excellent value for money.Hmmm, it’s the Vauxhall-Opel stuff that appeals to me most, both HB and HC Vivas look great, as does the Cavalier coupe and Kadett. pompei
Looks like some of it is in someone's front garden Some great cars there - what is the thing with the Brava rear lights? There did seem to be a phase a few years ago of putting them on every KUSTOM in sight - pity, as it's been overdone now.Love the 124 Spyder - they look so much better without bumpers, especially if they were the Uncle Sam spec. pogweasel
BE-1 preceeded the Fiat Brava by a good few years (6-ish?) so unlikely!Though I am sure RegRit will be able to offer his very own 'rear-light hypothesis' shortly.

The rear lights are actually nothing like the Brava but you can see where Fiat got the idea:
Spottedlaurel
It’s true, the BE-1 came first and that’s how they came from the factory. In the background of one pic I saw a Robin Reliant (sic) with over large rear wheels – what was going on there? The HC Viva people seem very pleased to see you. Mr_Bo11ox
Looks like a class do RG! Cheers for the message - 'sadly' I was out and about on Sunday with Ms_Bol, picking bilberries on a sunny hillside in the Peaks, (having quite literally spent my 'car show' wad all at once with the LM Classic a couple of weeks ago)I too am loving the old vauxhalls, I'll take the red viva wagon please, i'd like a 1400 16v corsa engine in it.I saw that blue Humber Sceptre a few weeks ago at another cheshire country fayre thing, as you say the wheels look appalling! Still an appealing old crate however, i'd put some Rostyles or Ford dartboards on, or some BAD ASS 17" FOX RACING ALLOYZ with WanKing Skidmaster radials - Uzbekistans no.1 currency earner!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!"!"!111!!one!! The only pic visible to me now from the office is that wine red coloured Brava posted by retro
MrRegieRitmo
You can upload one to play in GT4!http://z-o-g.org/gt4cars/used-oldtimer/nissan-be-1-87.jpgat least I think that's what this site suggests!http://www.gtplanet.net/gt4/car_list/jpn/get_cars.php
AnthonyG
Love the Vauxhall/Opel stuff - a Brabham Viva is a very rare car.
retrogeezer
Yes SL, the Reliant had an oversized engine in it too....a V8 I guess? Looked awful to drive too, the pedal box was in a 6 inch space to the right of the engine cover in the car.....you would need to be a contortionist I think... Cavcraft
Class pictures, cheers for the share. Recognised a couple of natives of the Cholmondeley Castle show cars in that lot and also really appreciated the Vauxhall content.
155V6
They look like Alfa 145/155 wheels on the Robin.
pompei
When I worked in Leeds a few years back I'd regularly see a Rover v8 powered Robin. Don't know if it still exists
michiel
Weird thing. 3X3... Does it have 3WD then? That would be interesting!
reallyloud
Great selection for what seems like a small show - the cars you've shown have more cars of interest than I have seen at bigger, expensive and better known shows. Great to see that BE1 was accepted at the show too, you tend to get a few too many Figaros these days at classic car shows, whereas that Nissan is genuine rarity. That Kadett is lovely too. Smashing. Split_Pin
Love the 12 - cant be too many of these at shows. Nice to see the MK% Corty being cherished more these days - this one looks like its straight from the 1982 brochure in the 'Ford Acessories' section - perfect! Love the period plates too - I notice quite a few of these seem to have a mixture of fonts within them, like this one. Looks a great show, esp for free! Hertz
Yes looks like I missed a good show, i'll try and remember it for next year This one looks good as well, another good North West event I think I'm going on the Sunday to have a look round.http://www.pageantofpower.com/
r.welfare
I think everyone concurs that the Mk5 Cortina (a GL I'd say) is absolutely gorgeous, and I'd give my right arm to own it!
retrogeezer
Yeh, I did hover around the Cortina for a fair bit longer than most of the other motors...I had a white Mk5 'L' spec one for a while and lots of friends had tina's too when we first started driving. The blue one had been painted here & there but very well and it really did look showroom fresh in the metal. The engine even sounded new.And yes, it was indeed a GL.
mk2_craig
I wonder if someone somewhere's making a living by collecting up new old stock raised plastic numberplate digits and flogging them on as period plates, a mate's dad here has literally hundreds lying around salvaged off dead cars during the 1980s. Richard
The Reliant has a Rover V8 in it. Still only £66 to tax for a year though.
Richard
It's nice to see an unadulterated Mini, and the other two are tastefully modified. Minis seem to suffer from the same scene vandalism that Fords and VWs get.
Chip
I've got little else to add as my first post, except to say damn and blast! I had no idea this event was on, and I'm only in Stoke as well
