HillmanImp
So why do these cars they buy just fall to bits? I am pretty sure that rear door did not fall off the SD1 without a bit of help. No real skill there. I am pretty sure most of those 'breakdowns' and 'faults' are staged. Or maybe its me getting cynical in my old age....... 155V6
I work at Dunsfold where Top Gear's filmed, all the cars from the challenges etc are just parked out in the open. There's a Maestro there which I don't remember seeing on the show,it's a white MG & it's smashed at the back

Jazzy Jeff
For a Saint of shite, he doesn't half enjoy destroying nice and perfectly serviceable tat in pointless staged stunts for the amusement of BMW 1-Series driving Laminate flooring sales reps from the Home Counties to laugh at."HAHA LOOK DAT ALLEGRO WENT FUCKEN SPAT OMG WELL GUD INIT NOW LETS GET BACK TO LISTENING TO CLARKSON DRY HUMP A FERRARI"
Pete-M
"HAHA LOOK DAT ALLEGRO WENT FUCKEN SPAT OMG WELL GUD INIT NOW LETS GET BACK TO LISTENING TO CLARKSON DRY HUMP A FERRARI"That, is exactly why I watch it. Old cars are just that, some are more loveable than others and watching the less loveable ones die in amusing ways is a pastime I enjoy. I also enjoy watching people thrap Ferraris about, and the mad cross Europe races. If they flung a BMW, Jensen, Barkas, Tatra, Golf at each other until they all fell apart I'd watch it - but I would probably also be thinking "Bugger, that's the bit I need for mine".Every other old car that dies makes yours rarer, and in a lot of ShiteOldCar contexts that's the only reason people buy them in the first place. If they still made Allegros to exact 1974 spec and people were mad enough to buy them then they wouldn't have any classic appeal at all. "I've got a '74 Allegro" would be the equivalent of "I've got a 1974 Bic biro, but I reconditioned the ink a few times".
Mr Lobster
For me, JM is the best of the three on Top Gear as he comes across as a real enthusiast. I'm sure Clarkson and Hammond are as well just that James May seems to be more of a petrolhead to me and appreciate real cars more. That article reinforces that.As for Top Gear itself, well I have to say I do enjoy it. Yes some of it is obviously staged and some is abit stupid and designed to appeal to none car enthusiasts but it is still generally entertaining. Father Ted
Greatï¼Â-----------------------------------------------------------------------------It is quite interesting actually you silly little boy. Now fuck off and play with your sisters dollies. The fact the double decker cars are in the UK would suggest it was filmed at least in part in this country - surely you would not go through all the aggro of importing them (esp the "German" ones) back into this country when you could just drive them to a Belguim scrappy and get a few roubles or whatever they use over there. CortinaDave
According to Hammond in Practical Classics this month the dolly went to someone who is doing a full resto on it.
