By chance, saw this on BBC4 on Saturday night:http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0074ry7“To the World's End: Scenes and Characters on a London Bus Routeâ€ÂDescribed as “Charming documentary following the number 31 London bus route from Camden Town to World's End, Chelsea, examining scenes and characters on the way. Directed by the late Jonathan Gili with music by Carl Davies.â€ÂThink it was made in 1984/85, so of course the big draw was the amount of kit on show. That and the portrayal of what seems to be a different world to today. BBC 4 seemed to be having some kind of Bus Night, as after it was a documentary called “Open Space: A Day Off The Buses†from about the same time, about Putney Garage bus staff on a trip up to Alton Towers, also available for the next five days on iPlayer. Not so much shite on view in that one, but still entertaining. At some points it was difficult to tell whether or not it was a documentary.Next Saturday it’s apparently Taxi Night.

Unfortunately one presumes that will be an FX4 showcase, rather than documentaries about the T72 Bluebird which, according to those who know, is the finest minicab ever produced!

Yes, that thought did strike me. Still, so long as they show stuff from 20-30 years ago I’ll be happy. I recall some programme from back then about The Knowledge.

My mum had recorded a programme on the design and introduction of the Routemaster which I saw last night while over there for dinner. That one dated from 1992. Lots of shite of all ages to behold as there was plenty of then current footage spliced in with period 50's and 60's film.

To the World's End is on the iPlayer, I've just looked. I think pretty much everything that's shown on BC TV makes it onto the iPlayer.

Quite enjoyed that. Why dont they make programmes like that anymore? You would have Paul Ross and Stuart Marconi making comments of how they 'remembered' being there that very day that was shot and a random comedian whose only other television appearance was in a beer advert 4 years ago making irrelevant comments about the A team. Why they cant still make programmes like the Rock'nRoll years i dont know.Not a great deal of tat spotting in it mind, but a good reminder of how grotty buildings were back then. Did a quick scout to see if any of the peeps who were Google-able and that chap Tony Tobias is back in motor racing to an extent. Could not help myself, as i am always interested to see what happened to peeps in programmes like that.
