Greek Island Spotting

Had a couple of weeks in Greece for our honeymoon and managed to see a decent amount of treasures....

To start with, early Scirocco was nice though would have been better with proper wheels

Dead 70's R4 was in a car park. Knew I should have taken a 10mm spanner - chrome wiper arms and door handles would have been nice for mine!

Greek isles are great for tat spotting. I worry that the EU will soon stamp out all these old motors though when ever stricter MOT's come in over there.. do they actually have any kind of test at the moment?

Judging from some of the stuff on the roads over there I very much doubt it!

Another of the Transit bus -

Cor, some beauties there :) Fiesta looks like the ultra pov spec job - perfect.World's shonkiest towbar arrangement on the Transit and is that an early Seat Ibiza in the background of the Tipo shot?

Simca is absolutely ace! Refresh my memory please, were they part of Renault or something, only it looks like one and I can't think what model?*Actually weren't they part of Talbot/Chrysler so more likely to have been Peugeot based?

Brilliant spots! They remind me of the kind of stuff I used to see on family holidays in the Balearics in the early 90s - it had all gone by the end of the decade though :( Great to see these sorts of motors still being used or at least surviving!R4's got to be my favourites though.

does make you think what exactly is hiding in these islands though.

Theres a lot of stuff out there. There was a lot I didn't photograph as basically I had driven past and couldn't be bothered turning the car around and going back or it was just a bit awkward to take pics of but the list includes Peugeot 404, Dacia Denem Estate, Ford Taunus / Cortina, Peugeot 104, Fiat Ritmo, Regatta, Seat Ibiza Mk1, Opel Ascona Mk1, Opel Kadett C plus a good amount of old Japanese stuffEven the mainland has a lot of tat lurking - we got the Metro from Athens airport to the port at Pireaus which runs through Athens and then its suburbs and there is a vast amount to be seen there, all in regular use and parked up on the roadside.

Any problems at all with snapping old tat?

No. I just try and not make it too obvious, avoid taking pics when theres too many people around and that sort of thing.
