Monthly Scotoshite meet at Armadale last Wednesday of the month.

Hi all, I've been posting on the Maestro/Montego owners group website for a while and a friend has encouraged me to get posting on here too!

For those who haven't read my posts on CMS206's thread I own a super base Austin Montego 1.3 and my husband has an Austin Montego Mayfair 1.6. We have only had them for a couple of weeks and having great fun.

Now to the reason for this thread - I'm looking to organise a wee meet on a regular basis in Scotland for those with like minded interests and views. You don't need to have a Montego/Maestro to come along or even a classic just an interest. So far some suggestions have been for things like a drive and dine, picnic (better weather of course), organised runs, varied meeting points to include as many people as possible (within reason), once a month or there abouts??? Any further suggestions welcome. I've got a few people already lined up from MM club just wanted to get a few more bods on board before organising the first meet. Feel free to PM me or through the thread :D Looking forward to hearing from some of you soon - Hazel

Hazel I'd humbly suggest you take your mobile number off your message and invite people to pm you instead. Spambots pick up 'phone numbers and e-mail addresses and you may get bombarded by them.

It'd be a fair old trek for the Princess, but when/if I have the time and money to do it, I'd be totally up for slogging up to Scotlandland to meet up in a carpark to look at miserable cars in the howling wind and pouring rain, I'd even bring a flask of Bovril to enjoy.

If it's deep enough in, it's a fair old slog in anything! I did Faslane in my MG Maestro and that was wearing (and that's a fast car!), but then I've also done Glasgow Fruit Market (many times) in an 18 tonne Iveco. At night. I would class doing it in an A-series Metro as roughly equivalent, but without the advantages of height and weight.

The plan is to try and move the meet around to suit people. So far we have people in Dunfermline, Stonehouse, Falkirk and Paisley so was thinking about meeting at South Queensferry for the first one but that isn't set in stone. You don't need to have something from the Austin-Rover group either! Just an interest in cars would be good. If you want an excuse to come to Scotland in the mean time you could come visit us at the Bo'ness show next weekend or East Fortune on 23rd September!

Right peeps, for anyone interested we are now getting down to organising the first meet. Looking at Queensferry possibly at The Ferry Tap (pub). There is apparently parking near the rail bridge which should be reasonably quiet so we can park together. I have a friend looking into the venue for me. I know the details are a bit sketchy but hopefully looking at Wednesday 26th September at around 8pm but looking for confirmation from interested parties if this suits before committing. If not then this can be changed but at least its a start. Reminder - This is not for Montego or Maestro owners exclusively! Just a random bunch of people who have an interest in cars. You don't even need to turn up in something classic, just an opportunity to gas about what you have/would like, pick peoples brains about problems and meet some different folk. PM me your thoughts so I can get a note of numbers of those interested and I shall make it so.
