This mouldy old 520. Looks solid enough under the green though. Sported this dealer sticker:

Which looked distinctly non-French. Any clues?

It's strange that we never had a diesel engine in the Ghia spec Escorts over here, We got a "X" model at the end which was a bit like the Eclipse and Equipe with all the goodies chucked.

Frustratingly I did actually see one, a 2dr just like yours but in blue, it went over a crossroads just behind me. Looking back I could've turned round and given chase, but we were on our way somewhere and the family are very patient with me as it is...

SL'S BACK IN THE GAME!

So good to see this thread at the top. As I'm sure I said before, this is is the thread that brought me to Autoshite and the world of spotting in 2007.

Gah! ... Imageshack ... useless

I feel your pain, brother. Photobox similarly screwed me over.

Welcome back! Now just to entice Brammy back, too. I'm an occasional lurker of spotted threads on Flickr and I think you, Brammy, Barrett and NZcarfreak have got the game pretty much sewn up. Oh and that fella Martin Perry that lives in NZ/UK who loves lorries and coaches - his thread is amazing, too.

Cheers! Given time and a dredge of the memory banks I could probably replace some of those Imageshack photos, as I have subsequently put a fair few of them onto Flickr. Interesting to think what were daily drivers then that are now so much rarer, and by contrast what I'd have completely disregarded then is worth a photo these days.

Thanks also for your words Jon.

Somewhat confusingly, but perhaps appropriately, it's going to be easier for me to update this going backwards in time. At some point I'll meet where I've got to above, I don't know what will happen then, it'll be like one of those time travel conundrums. Here we go then with a heavily edited selection from what I have on Flickr:

Wow. That brown A310 1600 is amazing! That's the dream right there. I see you went to the Matra museum. There's some fantastic stuff on display there isn't there? Esp the Bagheera U8.

Yup, the Matra Museum definitely a good place. I do have more photos from there that I might sort out one day. Have a better shot of that A310 in the meantime:

I'm sure you've been involved with some equally miserable towing experiences....

Now that you mention it, towing a Daimler Conquest Century back from London behind a non-turbo Daihatsu Fourtrak probably wasn't far off in terms of misery...

There some fantastic spots in this thread. Those Lada 110s look a bit like poorly scaled plastic toys. I drove past an abandoned Lada dealership a few years ago somewhere between Reims & Paris that had a couple of those outside.

Renault/Saviem crew-cab thing surely better than an L200 or the like?

Two museums on my family trip was good going. They're close enough to each other that they could easily be visited on the same day.

That Renault/Saviem thing the sort of commercial that could be much newer than it looks, maybe 1980s judging by the badge style? Probably not replaced until some version of the Master took over from it.

I did well with two car museum visits on the family holiday. They're close enough that you could easily do them both in a day.

I can't quite remember where you live, other than somewhere in the south but I'm always pleased to see how much older stuff tends to be knocking about in comparison to northern parts of the country. Having been back to the UK 3 times in the past 5 years and having ventured no further south than Manchester, I reckon a similar thread of yours if you were living further up the land would be a lot more difficult to achieve.

Please tell me you'll make a thread of your latest fleet acquisition too!

Thanks. Apparently those Murvi campers were high-spec and expensive back in the day.

Another couple from Switzerland:

The factory I went to had an excellent museum displaying some of their older products.

Back to the last week or two:

Never seen this around before, a Sport just like my old one (except mine was manual). They've done well to keep it on the 17's, hope they haven't suffered too much damage from potholes....

Another one I haven't seen in town before. Where have they been hiding? There's a G-reg Rover 213/216 I got a glimpse of recently as well.

Saw this on the road (well, in a car park) a few years ago. It's now languishing at the back of a used car forecourt that mainly sells 10-15yr old bilge.

And this was there too, watched over by Simba. Price just dropped from £1695, was apparently unsold at an ACA sale earlier in the years with a guide price of about the same amount.

Old House and Mouldy Transit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr

Shame the vehicle wasn't more interesting. Transit has been off-road since 2010.

Busy weekend, better go.

Wow, a 3dr Mk3 Ghia! Double points for spotting one working for a living, too.

Interesting you mentioned the sanity of someone buying a low spec 2dr SAAB 900 so late in the run; I thought just the same about the L reg Murvi just below it, as I didn't know they were offered during perhaps the whole run of the Talbot Express run.
