I thought that Golf was an absolute peach and a very good buy at £1200.The clean & uncluttered lines of the basic model look great 30 years on.Would like to see it up close to see what paintwork had been done...maybe it will be at Volksworld in a weeks time.

Just a random Sainsbury's spot, had a nice used-but-solid look to it.

Not as old as the plate would suggest - DVLA reckons it's of 1984 vintage.

While I'm on the subject, what's the URL for the free RAC reg mark check? as I can't find it :?

RAC have changed it now - previously it would tell you the last change of owner and number of previous owners. Best way to check now is to 'sell' the car on eBay, get to the point where you put in the registration number, then get the info that way...

It looked pretty smart! But why did it have big cuddly toys on the back seat? My daughter was very taken with them....

I seem to be back on the weekly updates, though without the quality a few of you here are finding! I have some promising hopes to investigate though......

Posted Image

96 didn't look to have been used for a bit, on a fairly quiet road prior to which I saw quite a bit hidden away in a very barren bit of Norfolk. Had the family on board so not much opportunity to stop :?

Posted Image

I do love stuff like this. Not long before seeing this I'd had to wait ages for a headlight-less 1980's Marshall to come trundling towards me very slowly. This area seems to retain a few small farms where they don't use monstrously huge machines.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Oh my! I need to get back here ASAP, the place is for sale and warrants a better look (I struggled with fading light, looking forward to the clocks changing!) before it suddenly gets cleared. House was wonderfully derelict, and there seemed to be more cars and vans than I could easily photograph here. Only a couple of miles from my route to work too! Fortunately a footpath runs along one side so even if I can't get permission to go and take better pic's on the site (I will try!) I shall get some better ones when the light improves.

Edit: What's the estate in the 3rd pic down?

Posted Image

This place had quite a bit of stuff too, mostly 60's/70's Triumph sasloons, big 'n small. Again, I may try to investigate further as it's close to the old farmyard above and there's a dead BMW 7-series nearby too.

Posted Image

Going back slightly on my other camera now, this Sherpa van got gradually cut down over the next few days and by this morning all that was left was an engine sitting on the grass! The guy and his slightly mad father seem to have a thing for Sherpas, this yellow one was on a driveway near here for years and they always have one or two lurking around. Dad (who we lived nextdoor to for a bit) had a thing for Marinas a while back, but is a bit 'bewildered' and known locally for driving a JCB through a local showroom window  Country ways.....

Posted Image

Pre-facelift 3dr Justy, looks to be unused. Edit: And a Vivio! (Thanks Mk2_Craig)

Posted Image

Once used as a chicken coop?!

Posted Image

Camry like mine. 2.2 saloons like this had 14" wheels which makes them look a bit overbodied. Often see this one about, must leave a note on it (having got one or two prices recently for parts, I could do with a spares car!). Did however leave a note on the J-plate pre-Legacy Subaru estate in my mum's village, seen again at the weekend.

Posted Image

Yay, my firsty non-demonstrator spot of one of these! Can anybody recall the concept that had similar styling? Probably from a Turin show.

Posted Image

Very Yellow.

Posted Image

Last one for tonight. Wouldn't have bothered if it hadn't made this nice timewarp picture with the Accord.

Do you know, I hadn't twigged it as a Vivio  Yes, brochure says they are 4wd. But no frameless windows :( There's a facelift Justy down the road from mum's I see every time I go there, that's on an F so pre-facelift ones can't have been done for too long.

I was pleased to see the Mk1 blue Golf in the flesh last week, when my work took me to Norwich. It belongs to a guy who works at GSF Car Parts in Jupiter Road. Very tidy, and only appeared to have the odd rust bubble here and there. It attracted a lot of interest from staff and customers at GSF when he arrived with it.

Been a busy week for work so far so not yet revisited this place, but I will soon! And about the mystery estate, I'm inclined to agree about the Simca suggestion - can't think of any British stuff then with a similar window line. Only thing that confused me was that it seemed to have more depth below the winodw than I'd imagine Simca to have.Apparently not in these pictures I recall there being a Hunter on its side.

Very tidy Stellar in bandit country (nr Downham Market). Private plate even has my initials on it, fate? I didn't leave a note or knock on the door, already regret it! Mr_Bo11ox, I can give you directions if ever you're out for a trundle round that way.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Carlton Carrera kit car. Quick google suggested that 5-stud hubs means it's Jag-based. This one has sat here beside a busy-ish road for a quite a while now.

Posted Image

Late afternoon spot. LXi would have been pretty good spec for an estate back then.

Posted Image

Random old caravan. This marks the start of my trail o' tat.

Posted Image

Mouldering 735i. I remember this being fairly tidy a few years ago, as I acquired a manky 100A FII estate off this guy for Joncedric. Maybe it just needs a good clean, under the mould it doesn't look horrendous, but what lurks beneath?........

After this I passed the place with the Triumph 1300s and others (to be investigated further soon) to get to what has become one of my favourite places in the world:

Posted Image

I previously posted only a fuzzy shot of this, hopefully this shows that it's an old M-B saloon. Has alignment issues......

Posted Image

Capsized Hunter (late-ish one), Landcrab with unpeeled roof and one of those funny BMC vans that look like a carp at the front (JU?).

Posted Image

This is actually two vehicles, back end of a truck on an upsidedown, er, thing.

Posted Image

Red 5dr a 104? Also Polonez, Hawk/Super Snipe? and goodness knows what else. I haven't yet dared venture in, and I was alrady late for work

Posted Image

OK, I think the mystery estate is a Moskvich. Also got the nose of another M-B and the white saloon is?? LHD wiper pattern help anybody? Zephyr/Zodiac MkIII perhaps?

Posted Image

Think the green van is a Transit, and the yellow thing a Thames Trader. I hope there'll be more to come from there soon. But, the trail continues......

Posted Image

This Scorpio is not far away, parked opposite a garden with a few slightly newer but equally destitute cars. Escort MkIV alongside with bonnet up chock full of non-weighing in tat.

Posted Image

Another CF?! In a field right out in the middle of nowhere with a derelict barn and.....

Posted Image

This old tractor. Not sure if anyone else liking these, but I'm going to keep posting 'em!

Posted Image

Hedge may make it unclear what's in here - another damned CF, possibly Allegro and random big truck body (couldn't see its cab). Think there was other stuff there too. At this point I rejoined my normal journey to work and got there a bit late

Great 'tat in the woods' pics SL, agree on the mystery 'state being a Moskvitch. Even I'm not sure the white and rust remains next to it are that of a MK3 Zodiac, but if it is there are many useful bits I could use there, please let me know

Phew, quite a bit over the last week or two - was going to post it on Retro-Rides for their latest competition but in the end I had no time.

Posted Image

Renault Avantime-lite?

Posted Image

I'd seen this the week before and thought it was an XSi or something, but just a basic one jazzed up with alloys. Still a neat thing though. Possibly just visible in the background is super-pov F-plate AX I've posted before (and Scrapingscrap's house).

Posted Image

A rather un-East Anglian hill in the background! It is Suffolk though, promise. Small rear light Micras not so common nowadays. Hope mentions of Micra won't kick off the same fuss that it did on Retro-Rides

Posted Image

Maybe a tad scenish for some here, but no denying this was a tidy old thing and would have netted me a point or two in the R-R comp. Took this on such a fantastic day when I was out of the office that everything looked good!

Posted Image

My daughter approved of the colour, same as one Briandamaged posted recently?

Posted Image

Again, more of a spot with Retro-Rides in mind. Looked clean, on a local plate.

More to come, computer being silly.

Work took me to an area of Ipswich where I used to live, so it would've been rude not to take a cruise down my old street and see what was happening.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Pretty much none of the stuff I remember from 15+ years ago, unsurprisingly. This Galant - which I like a lot - would have been very new back then, but as it wasn't the smartest area unlikely that we'd have seen it anyway. Mostly late 70's/early 80's dross (I thought then!), oldest was an FE Victor.

Posted Image

Possibly a T12 Bluebird rather than UK-built T72? My old house about where the Sierra sits behind, and where my Manta A, 309, Clubman estate and a pair of Sunny B11's took their turn to park.

Posted Image

Pre-facelift Orion looks to have sat a while.

Posted Image

I reckon there was more to be had if I'd searched all the streets, trouble is it has lots of dead-ends which I believe were created to kill off kerbcrawling in the area. See, classy eh?

Posted Image

Chuffing big Toyota camper, US-spec?

Posted Image

Cute 10" slotmags on this one, shame about the headlight peaks.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Initially saw this about 10 cars ahead in the traffic, not difficult to miss in this colour! Followed it and cars eventually cleared, then they handily parked up.

Posted Image

Another GLT estate for Torsten. Stupidly I missed the tarp next to it, haven't a clue what was under it.

Arrgghh, Imageshack is painful tonight. Think the time has come to sign up with something else. I'm not even halfway through yet.

Posted Image

Something about this struck me as being unloved.

Posted Image

Quality trio here. Maybe the Nova gets towed on an A-frame as a budget version of those combos you sometimes see?

Posted Image

One of several CF campers I've seen recently.

Posted Image

First of three FWD Starlets I've seen in the last week.

Posted Image

For anyone fed up with my bilge-like spots, here's something a bit more proper. Also on the driveway was......

Posted Image

This most suitable caravan.

Posted Image

This place has had SD1's for as long as I can remember.

Posted Image

Sorry, another tractor spot! Think these Zetors were brought in by the same people who did Skoda.

Posted Image

OK, not really shite at all. On a nice sunny lunchtime last week I popped up to Snetterton where they were holding a charity track day. Regrettably nothing running over lunch, but I did see some nice stuff in the car park. Very relaxed atmosphere, fab weather, skylarks singing, interesting cars - it was tough to go back to work!

Posted Image

For PaulH #1. Think these were both Bentleys, and behind them a Rapier (?).

Posted Image

Stickers under the bonnet suggest this not entirely standard.

Posted Image

By way of contrast! May have posted it before, don't think it was on the track but would love to have been proved wrong.

Posted Image

Very straight MkII GT.

Posted Image

Think it's an AC.

Apologies if I've posted this before. Note familiar hedgerow and garden behind, this is the parking space opposite my office window so I see a few things there. You'll see it again soon.....

Posted Image

Another 'scort. Contrasting with the always clean one above, this one had four completely different wheeltrims.

Posted Image

This conveniently pulled in just as I was wandering about. So much nicer on these wheels than the one on modern rims I posted a few weeks ago.

Posted Image

2.5 diesel, what engine did these run?

Posted Image

Also an Astra CD in this yard. This is probably the fourth pickup I've seen this week.

Posted Image

Better shot at last of the 4dr MkII I see every day.

Posted Image

Posted Image

For PaulH #2. That parking place again! This Riley belongs to my boss's father, it has a 1.5-ish straight-six which he's just had enlarged to 1750 or so. Just running it in, otherwise it gets driven enthusiastically everywhere!

Posted Image

Somehow I feel Wuvvum would have something like this (assuming it's not one of his cast-offs!).

Posted Image

Posted Image

Top advertising! Just the tool for drunken pub-quiz away fixtures? Both still taxed. Was pleased to find a W123 with the pov-spec front lights, had only been thinking about them a few days previously.

Posted Image

This was parked up at the same place, proper one with a V12. Look nicer on these wheels than later cross-spokes I think. A stack-light M-B coupe passed as I was looking at these, lots of old stuff out on a sunny Sunday.

Posted Image

Now, I think the high-set lights mean this is a US-built International, not sold here officially AFAIK. I like it. A few old tractors here.

Posted Image

Nextdoor-but-one's D-plate 2.8, from my bedroom window. He's a bit quiet, so despite our shared enthusiasm for grumbly six-pot coupes I haven't found much out on it yet.

Posted Image

This will have its fans here? Seems to be in regular use.

Posted Image

This lot have all sat next to a garage on the A140 for a while now, don't know what their destiny is.

Posted Image

For sale if anyone interested, £700 or offers. I have a number if need be.

Posted Image

Another Starlet. In the same place as the white one I snapped some weeks back, which I saw on the move just before I got to this one. They obviously like them.

Posted Image

As these people obviously like MkI Golfs. There was another tidier GTi on the driveway.

R5 van! Used to see this every morning, now appears to have been replaced by an Escort van (there is a certain breed of elderly, surly Norfolk men that like panel vans).

Finally (at last!) I spent some of the weekend cleaning my fleet.

Phew, that was hard work.

The home of one previous owner Japanese cars:

1973 Datsun 1200 B110 2dr; 1980 Laurel 2.4 C230; 1988 Sunny 1.6 LX N13
1992 Camry 2.2GL (definitely just for spares now); 1993 Camry Estate 2.2GL on the road again!!

And a couple of modern Toyotas
