Parky
I lived in NZ for a bit and couldnt believe there were Marina's, Allegro's, Renault 12's and Mk4 Cortinas over there with no rust at all. I dont think the authorities in Christchurch used to salt the roads so rust was much less of an issue.Loads of Jap Tat over there. I had an 87 "Microwave Back" Honda Civic and a 1991 Corolla with a quarter of a million k's on the clock. Both had faded paint but everything else was tip top. Bought a 1994 Corolla when I got back to the UK which I have had for five years during which it has needed a fan belt on top of regular oil changes - and thats it. Cant argue with that sort of reliability although when driving through East London I often get mistaken for an illegal minicab......
ashmicro
Triffic spots. We have family in Wellington, and I seem to recall my Uncle telling me that the authorities used volcanic ash instead of salt. Does that sound right?
STUNO
Not quite right, no salt is used anywhere, and around here the roads are spread with grit on icy mornings, and as I live inside a volcano there's probably some volcanic stuff in the grit. There are also a few places on the City roads where the underground heat stops ice forming too!

55bloke
Awesome!! But, why do people gather a collection like that, then just leave it to rot away?
