Guest
HudsonThis is magnificent. Why does no-one make cars this cool anymore?A Hornet turned up at the American car meet at the Cheshire Lounge recently - it was a good two feet longer than my Amazon. Probably the same difference in width. I wonder if that CARS film has pushed values up at all?
AnthonyG
Not a fan of the wheels on that 64 Ford Galaxie, totally out of proportion, although the rest is still good. Quite like the 'paid for' no plate though...

AnthonyG
Love the 1950s Buicks, 50+ years old and still going strong. Somehow I doubt crap like the 80s Skyhawk will still be mobile in 2029.
Gompo
What's the American version of 'Barry' or 'Barried' then? Just 'ricers' or is there something else?Great pics as always.. Cheers.
Heep
Don't see four-door pillarless hardtops anymore. Shame. Love these, notorious hunks of junk. One of my earliest memories from when I was 4 years old involved one dead in our driveway. I'd love to have one, ha. Whoa! Haven't seen one of these in years. When I was wee my neighbours had the possibly even rarer Oldsmobile Firenza variant, and in estate form too. Great shots sir!

Cheers. No real phrase for 'Barried up' or even 'Chav' over here although we can certainly fit inappropriate spoilers to shagged Hondas with the best of them. I've heard people refer to shite old cars as 'a bit of a Hoopty' but generally people just call them 'clunkers' hence our version of 'Scrappage' is called 'cash for clunkers'

AnthonyG
Interesting - a stretched Pontiac (blue 70s barge), rare I should think particularly as it wasn't the poshest of GM brands. Maybe it was more of a stretched taxi than a limo, like those Checker 'airport run' things with 6 doors. I have a Dinky model of a Superior ambulance based on a 62 Pontiac, so possibly they did Pontiac limos and hearses as well.

Gompo
This is cool, some parts make it look quite old; possibly the door handles. As is this for some reason: I like the fake chrome on many of these cars, just seems to add to their atmosphere. Over here cars seemed to stop with all this during the late 80's and 90's

seth
I absolutley do not know what this isIts a '49-'51 Ford. The lenses probably differ year to year but I'm not sure which it is. The '49 Merc front sheet metal must surely be worth something!

Visited a local car show a while back, was lots of show queens but there was a little shite: And the rest are basically on the street...This was a pretty in an understated wayA burned out shite carierstill haven't managed to get a proper shot of thishttp://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x88/poundsandpence/122109/IMG_2347.jpghttp://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x88/poundsandpence/122109/IMG_2407.jpg

bigstraight6
Cars still rust quite a bit in the states then?I'm always amazed at how rusty some of the stuff is in Fordpops pics, still I suppose NY winters are quite harsh! still lots of old gear about though which is always nice to see
Milford Cubicle
Hey Justys look really weird and naked without that AWD symbol down the sides....It's a 4WD symbol to signify part-time 4WD - not gr8 4 dry tarmac, etc. AWD signifies full-time 4WD.The Justy was offered in 2WD form in the US and much of the rest of the world I think. Milford Cubicle
To be fair, the design does look like it reads AWD from a distance, but if you look closely there is no bottom left line on the 'A'
Gompo
That early grey Porsche is lovely. Is it a 912? What's this: Cant decide if I like them or not, obviously the wheels dont suit it. I'm sure I've seen them before but at that angle it's confusing me a bit. ..Cheers for spots!
