Cavcraft
Want a Nova? Want a Caravan? You need the Nova Caravan then. If anyone ever sees one of these for sale you totally HAVE to tell me. I shan't hold my breath though...http://www.opel-corsa-a.com/index_e.php ... Artz_e.htmHow ace is that?
Milford Cubicle
I thought it was going to be something based around a 1980s Sprite caravan. Still, pretty shite and pretty pointless!

vicsmith
That Nova Estate looks really stylish, perhaps not surprisingly resembling a Mk2 Cavalier Estate scaled down. Although the production figures don`t offer much hope to anyone trying to get hold of one. Not quite the same thing but it might satisfy the craving for a Vauxhall Estate that we never got in this country:
r.welfare
Looks pretty good. I know the continent got a 3-dr Rekord estate around that time (we got it here as a van); up until recently continental Europe supported sales of big 2-dr cars quite strongly - Sierra, Mk2 Granada etc.

Can't believe they never actually made (or at least sold) one to my knowledge.Pretty pissed off a few years back when on holiday in Norfolk and saw a Nova cabriolet for sale at a good price in a garage and couldn't afford it. The doors certainly are as it has the Cav's barrel sided look and not the flat sides of a Nova. The Cav Estate was only ever a 5 door (it used Holden rear end bits) so I guess this nis a prototype unless the Ascona was available as an Estate? I didn't think there was an Ascona wagon of any sort?
vicsmith
Sorry for the confusion - it is a Mk2 Cavalier, just thought the lack of rear doors made it a novelty, and these are available in Brazil, along with thse which I think are great:
Spottedlaurel
That’s as weird as when I saw a pukka 3dr version of a T12 Bluebird hatchback (you know, like the Sunderland built ones). The GM J-car ended up being a lot of things round the world didn’t it? vicsmith
Trust me, trying to get to the bottom of the GM J-car is a long and exhaustive business, it`s not just the bodystyles, its all the different noses and names it had. In years to come Oldjapanesecar.com will have fully documented every car from the far east ever made, right down to homebuilt specials from the 1920s, and I`ll still be finding Mk2 Cavaliers with crazy front ends that I`d never heard of. A couple more unexpected shooting breaks: What`s that 3-dr Bluebird all about then? Any pics?

Spottedlaurel
Hopefully we’ll have got this on the list… Isuzu Aska. Pondering the GM J-car thing must while away the minutes between punters? The 3dr Bluebird was one of two imported by Nissan UK, they were sold elsewhere in Europe and I assume they came here for Type Approval. I think the various European importers shared out this work and each did different elements of it, as a result an importer might have to do some on a car they probably had no intention of selling. For this reason there were a few rogue specification cars trundling around which they must have sold on – different engines, diesels, coupes etc. I saw the Bluebird in Suffolk one Christmas Day, managed to get a couple of pic’s (post them later, unless Ratdat has copies to hand?) but didn’t talk to the owner, stupid really as I saw him disappear into a house (I was being considerate with it being Christmas). DVLA suggests it’s gone now anyway.

The Reverend Bluejeans
It's fairly obvious that the J Car range was designed around those four doors. They certainly had value from those presses.Other models include the Pontiac Syphillis, Buick Comatose and the spanish offshoot, the Opelos Bastardos. ChinaTom
These two lil beauties have been available out here in China for years. They have recently become Chevrolets (used to be Buicks) and are good sellers. All 1600's and most autos. I'll be on my lookout for some on my travels. Mr_Bo11ox
Hey that Nova wagon is remarkable, I have often wondered about how easy it would be to build one using a 4-door sallon and the rear roof section from a hatch version, and whether it would look good when it was done. Now I know.
