Twiggy
Talking to a chap about car maintenance, he said that he always put an eggcupfull or two of water miscible oil, you know, the stuff that`s used on lathes to keep the piece cool when you`re turning it, into the radiator to lubricate the water pump, and protect the radiator. Any one heard of this before, does it work, or was he just taking the urine ?
Timewaster
Holts used to market a waterpump lubricant that you poured into the radiator water, it was supposed to quieten noisy pumps.I guess the idea is the same, although wouldn't the lube need to make it past the seal to help the bearings? If fluid gets past the seal to the bearing, I guess your waterpump is shagged anyhow.
