pompei
Visited the Kit car show on Sunday. Having been to the Auto Italia day a few weeks earlier (will post some pics) and coo-ed over the delicious offerings on show, this was a stark reminder that some people should not be allowed to design cars. I mean someone has said to himself, " I really fancy building my own car and I can make it more beautiful then anything else out there. And use the worst of 20 year old technology to underpin it" I give you The obligatory Novae Improving aerodynamics:- and good taste abounds Even as a kid I thought these were faintly ridiculous, all hairy chest and gold medallions, and especially with 1200 VW power. I was drawn to this: and this and especially this Don't fancy yours M8 or your, or yours, or yours: One day we will all travel like this or preferably in one of these Plenty of non-kit shite there too, hard to believe this was powered by a detuned Steyr Puch J4 Dormobile don't look too closely Jag:-
Jazzy Jeff
One day we will all travel like this "Would you like to touch our latest Electric vehicle Mr Al Gore?? We made it just for you."
Split_Pin
Plenty of non-kit shite there too, quote] I remember these used to be allowed right down to the sidelines at footy matches. I miss not seeing them - wasnt the door hinged at the bottom or something, to created a kind of wheelchair ramp? Isnt the top one a Mini -Based GTM? It looks a little less kit-like than some of the others.
MrRegieRitmo
Don't fancy yours M8 Oh I don't know, that one's running the Chevanne a close second!

pogweasel
There must be a decent niche market for foxy bints draped over rubbish cars. Maybe we could hire in some dollybirds and do an Autoshite calender. Much better than that Pirelli bollocks.
mr-reno-139
calender idea sounds fun but only 12 candidates for the photoshoot ?time for an autoshite poll on eligible cars no good suggesting cars if we cant find any to pose naked models on though

mk2_craig
Hahaha, great thread More piles of shite than at the entrance to our local abbatoir. I like the fact that a Combo high-cube's died to create that trailer (was gunnu do that myself with a front-ended Courier ten years ago, but bottled it) HOWEVER that's the stupidest use of a Vaux grille I've yet seen. mk2_craig
This is comedy - shite car door challenge. Mk1 Esc on left, Mk3 Capri on right... windscreens too no doubt?
retrogeezer
Is that not a Mk2 Escort door??? (on the right I meant!)These things crack me up!
r.welfare
Looks like Mk1 Scrote based on the left, and Mk2 on the right - the windscreen angle looks too vertical (see it relative to the slope of the A-post) for a Crapi. At least these two appear completed - always makes me chuckle that most kitcar builders start with the best intentions, then only do enough to get it on the road (which usually means a lack of decent paintjob). Mr_Bo11ox
I love shite kitcars, there was an absolutely world-class Eagle RV Jeep at the bubble car museum - standard issue gasping pinto with a rusty chrome K+N pancake filter, B+Q 'shed door' hinges self-tappered straight into the fibreglass for the front doors, 'warp factor 9' plywood plank dashboard with cortina clocks in the middle plus a cock-eyed 'Ghia' badge glued on with a massive splat of evostik....utter utter dross. did anyone get any pics of it? Spottedlaurel
Yup, though not from this time but when Baz and I visited last year. Not that it makes much difference.
pompei
Even Beloved was laughing at some of the stuff at Newark - it was an entertaining day out all round. She was much more interested in some of the punters (and had plenty to say about the spray-tanned modellz). There was a heady air of mid-life crisis amongst the blokes slobbering over the MR2s, sorry, Ferrari replicas, and too many blokes in 1980s Milletts jumpers around some of the more "hands-on" stuff. And some plain oddities ...
